dc.descriptionEl conflicto armado se ha venido presentando durante décadas, y ha generado una situación de violencia continua por conflicto de intereses. Este se ha utilizado como recurso para la resolución de dificultades sociales, económicas y políticas. Las Fuerzas Militares y la Policía, constituyen un conjunto de instituciones que se encargan de la defensa del territorio, en su espacio aéreo, terrestre y marítimo. En ejercicio de su misión, el personal vinculado desempeña labores de defensa, seguridad del territorio, combate, atención y prevención de desastres, durante los cuales ocurren sucesos de alto impacto emocional. El Trastorno de Estrés postraumático, constituye una patología que afecta al individuo de forma posterior a la ocurrencia de un evento traumático, como es el caso de la exposición a situaciones de violencia y guerra como ocurre con el personal de las Fuerzas Militares y la Policía. Objetivo: Investigar la prevalencia y los factores asociados al desarrollo del Síndrome de Estrés Postraumático en personal de las Fuerzas Militares. Metodología: Se llevó a cabo una revisión sistemática de la literatura, cuyos criterios de selección fueron artículos contenidos en bases de datos científicas tales como APA, Medline, Pubmed, ScienceDirect, Cochrane, Academic search complete y Psychology and Behavioral Sciences Colection, que refirieran estudios experimentales, prospectivos, retrospectivos, transversales, meta-análisis y revisiones de la literatura, en los que se identificarán: factores de riesgo, sociodemográficos, laborales, extra-laborales y prevalencia y que hubiesen sido publicado en los últimos 10 años (2007 – 2017) en idiomas español e inglés. Resultados: Se seleccionaron 57 artículos, de los cuales se derivaron resultados en términos de prevalencia y factores de riesgo sociodemográficos, intralaborales y extralaborales relacionados con el Síndrome de Estrés Postraumático donde se identificó que la prevalencia del trastorno de estrés postraumático en las Fuerzas Militares y la Policía se encuentra entre el 2% y el 59%. Conclusiones: Algunos factores sociodemográficos, intralaborales y extralaborales, juegan un papel mediador frente al desarrollo, gravedad y persistencia del trastorno a lo largo del tiempo.spa
