| spa |
dc.description.abstract | Background: This paper describes the theories that underlie practices to alleviate suffering in adult patients with cancer who are in palliative care. Methodology: A systematic review of the literature was carried out, it included descriptive studies, qualitative studies, discourse analysis, case reports, a clinical study and systematic reviews, from its start date until August 12, 2018. Studies were evaluated using the CASPe guidelines. Results: Eighteen articles fulfilled the criteria for their inclusion and allowed us to know concepts of suffering and to deduce linked theories to relief practices like the interdisciplinary approach, narrative therapy, spirituality, euthanasia and the palliative sedation. Conclusion: Suffering is an inherent experience of the human being, it is characterized by being subjective and multidimensional nature, which requires an holistic approach that allows an evaluation and assertive treatment. Suffering-relief practices such as spirituality, narrative therapy, euthanasia, palliative sedation and interdisciplinarity are sustainable strategies in the literature and reflected in this review. However, interest continues to grow in the field of research to validate suffering in patients with cancer. | spa |
