Mesa Restrepo, Clara Maria
The present work allowed us to identify the characteristics associated to the gestational syphilis event in the context of the migratory situation that currently occurs in the border region of Norte de Santander and the increase of syphilis cases in said region. Pregnant patients of Colombian and Venezuelan nationality did not have early diagnosis of syphilis, given difficulties in health insurance. It also sought to strengthen the process of scientific research at the departmental level, generating specific knowledge for the population of Norte de Santander, which can be used in health decision making, mitigating the transmission of this disease and controlling the possible factors associated with the disease. Exposure risk, taking into account that the department is a border area between the countries of Colombia and Venezuela. In 2016, an increase in the number of cases of pregnant women with confirmation of the diagnosis of syphilis was identified. This is how interest arose in recognizing those factors associated with the transmission of gestational syphilis in Colombian and Venezuelan women in the border region of Norte de Santander, which has a highly complex referral hospital care center for the department. In this way, a casecontrol study was carried out, which sought to generate local systematic information on conjunctural issues in the departmental, regional and national context regarding 15 diagnosis, and monitoring of sexually transmitted diseases, as well as access to health services.

This research takes the Actor-Network Theory (ART) as a theoretical and methodological reference. The objective of this work is to analyze the role of ICUs as social actors within a network of relationships, in the care of the health emergency generated by COVID -19 during the first year of the pandemic in Colombia. This analysis is developed in three sections. The first mentions the key points of the theoretical foundations of ANT that are taken into account for the development of this study; the second describes the historical context of ICUs and their situation prior to the pandemic; and, the third, presents the socio-technical network of the ICUs during the pandemic, as a result of the documentary review of a series of communications and news related to the ICUs in Colombia during the first year of the health emergency, coming from government sources and news media. local and international, all available on the web. So then, the analysis based on these primary documents will be developed empirically, discussing the key points of ANT with the situations exposed in the selected documents. This will allow, in addition to identifying different participants in the network, their roles and the interactions between them, to establish the importance of recognizing the ICUs as a socio-technical network that influences decision-making and policy formulation in the face of the health emergency. There is a need for government entities to recognize ICUs as a socio-technical network in which neither human actors nor technological actors can be left aside and in turn participate with greater agency in the problems identified in the analysis of the interactions between the different actors, especially with those related to human actants as members of the socio-technical network to guarantee its proper functioning and access to health services and technologies for the entire population, both in normal situations such as in health crises.

SUMMARY: Objectives: To identify sociodemographic characteristics of pregnancy and health care of women who died or were close to dying due to pregnancy, in Leticia, Amazonas. Materials and methods: Descriptive study of cases reported to the Public Health Surveillance System (SIVIGILA) for Maternal Mortality (MM) or Extreme Maternal Morbidity (MME) between 2012 and 2016. Through a collection instrument, information was obtained from: SIVIGILA, clinical histories, units of analysis of MM, evaluation of delays and verbal autopsies. Results: The maternal mortality ratio for Leticia was 103. 1 per 100, 000 live births. There were 6 cases of MM and 30 cases of MME, in women between 16 and 31 years old, mostly single (55%), dedcated to the home (60%) and non-users of contraceptive methods (96. 7%). Indigenous women presented 66. 7% of the MM and 44. 7% of the MME. He was found under prenatal control and late onset of the same. The majority of the MME occurred at the time of delivery (56. 7%), the main cause was obstetric hemorrhage (53. 3%). Half of the MM were caused by sepsis. The delays I (non-recognition of alarm signs) and IV (faults in attention) were the most frequent. Discussion and conclusions: During the study period, the maternal mortality ratioin Leticia doubled the national average. It is important to generate policies and interventions adjusted to the region, improve sexual and reproductive education, family planning, prenatal care, recognition of symptoms and health care.

The article addresses the history of women in Colombian medicine since 1920, with the first female doctor graduated in Colombia, until 1970, when the first women entered medical specialties. There are few academic papers that deal with this history reconstructed by women. A review of documentary archives and semi-structured interviews were used as a qualitative research method to analyze this history crossed by social, economic, religious and political tensions that have influenced the role of women in Colombian medicine. The delay in the entry of women to the liberal professions such as medicine had several factors: the delay in educational reforms in secondary and university education, the control of the Church in education and society that excluded women from education and he limited it to the space of the private. With the rise to the power of liberalism, he promoted the educational and civil rights reforms that opened the doors for the entry of women into the liberal professions such as Medicine. The participation of women in different magazines and forums promoted reforms in education and the acquisition of their civil rights. They stood out for their character, discipline, effort, and the support of their families. Many women pioneered and promoted Public Health in different regions of the country. He entered the medical specialties has been framed by beliefs, roles and spaces forbidden for women, but which they have transformed.

Durán-Torres, Felipe
Guerrero-Guerrero, Martha Inírida
Introduction: Leprosy is a chronic, communicable infectious disease. Taking into account the aftermath of the disease, since the year 1961 was decreed in Colombia the delivery of a state monthly economic subsidy to the sick, in order to meet their basic needs and thus protect the risk of disability. Objective: To characterize the patients with leprosy diagnosis, with and without subsidy, that attended the university Hospital Dermatological Center Federico Lleras Acosta (HUCDFLLA) between 2010 and 2015. Materials and methods: analytical cross-sectional study, through the review of medical histories, epidemiological records of notification and treatment, and databases of the public health area, containing information on leprosy patients Diagnosed and treated between the years 2010 and 2015. Results: For the socio-demographic variables, there was only significant statistical difference in the analysis of the method of capture of the case, in which it is observed a ten percent more probability of capture of the case by spontaneous demand for the cases that Receive subsidy. With regard to clinical variables, all patients with subsidy completed the treatment scheme ordered, and it was found that the number of blisters received in these cases was significantly higher (P = 0.049) to those received by patients without Subsidy. Subsidy completed the outline conclusions: it was evident that the delivery of subsidy guarantees the adherence and termination of the medical treatment indicated for leprosy. The study analyzed socio-demographic and clinical variables, suggesting positive aspects of the subsidy, however, it is not possible to say that it complies with the objective for which it was created.

Construir, implementar y ¿TRANSformar?
Applying a critical framework to public health, we show how the process of constructing and implementing periconceptional, prenatal, and postpartum guidelines for transgender men took place within the Resolution 3280 of 2018 in Bogotá, Colombia. This is a qualitative and interpretative study. The field information was gathered between September 2022 and February 2023, which included 12 semi-structured interviews. Additionally, a critical analysis was carried out to the technical guideline for preconception care in individuals on reproductive age, as well as the technical guidelines of the comprehensive route for maternal perinatal care and specific events with a differential line in the district. The point of view we used was intersectionality. We focus on three important findings:1) we identified how the construction and implementation of paternal-perinatal guidelines took place, including the participation, discussions held within the team, actions, milestones, events, as well as the difficulties and barriers faced throughout the process. Regarding the training sessions, we described the meanings, the training process, challenges, and lessons learned, difficulties, barriers, and perceptions related to the construction and implementation of the documents.2) we identified the challenges and lessons learned by health entities and health insurance companies, the bureaucratic itineraries of the healthcare system during the construction and implementation of the guidelines, and the institutional and obstetric violence experienced by transgender men.3) within the analytical category of differential health care, we found opportunities for improvement, transformations in health care with inclusive strategies and alternative perspectives, as well as the health/Illness/attendance/care culture and society process, which allowed us to have a contextualized understanding, recognizing the social, cultural, and behavioral change aspects from frameworks of diversity, difference, and inequality. In the critical analysis from the intersectionality view of the periconceptional guideline, there is a non-binary gender conception, but there is a unidimensional approach, as it does not intersect categories such as gender, race, and social class/income/socioeconomic position. In summary, the document develops a differential approach but not an intersectional one. In the critical analysis of prenatal guidelines, the document lacks an intersectional perspective and does not fully develop a differential approach. Finally, within public health, we should not only focus on the appropriate use of language, but also make trans parenthood part of public and private health institutions agenda. Thus, one of the most interesting challenges is the transformation of healthcare protocols with a gender perspective, working from a health perspective rather than disease.

Healthcare financing in Malawi and the achievement of universal health coverage : paradoxical difficulties in its realization due to vertical programming and off-budgetary support to the NGO sector
Pinzón Rondón, Ángela María
Malawi’s public health sector is presently funded 54% by external financial contributions from donor partners, demonstrating an overreliance on such donor aid for effective service delivery. However, donor support is increasingly precarious as donor partners opt for non-budgetary support, which redirects funds towards international and local NGOs instead of governmental ministries. Priorities for NGOs and donors oftentimes are uncoordinated with governmental priorities, resulting in the duplication of service delivery and the wasting of donors’ funds. Additionally, NGOs preferentially support vertical programs that focus on specific health concerns, notably HIV/AIDS, to the detriment of non-prioritized health conditions, such as maternal health and non-communicable diseases, effectively fragmenting and debilitating the overall healthcare system. The former perpetuates Malawi’s continued dependence on foreign funds and inhibits the government’s ability to achieve targets such as the implementation of universal health coverage. Even though vertical programs have undoubtedly contributed to marked improvements in health during the 21st century, such achievements are neither sustainable over the long-term nor reflective of gains expected due to such high levels of funding. The present analysis, shaped by personal experiences and observations within a local Malawian NGO, examines the country’s healthcare system and the NGO sector. On one hand, concerning the healthcare system, the expansion and success of vertical programming in improving life expectancies at the expense of broader healthcare gains is critically analyzed. While on the other, the NGO sector is critiqued for its overdependence on volunteers for operations and economic sustainability, the presence of entrenched small-scale corruption, and the system of per diems, which incentivize remunerated activities over salaried obligations. Finally, I argue that vertical programming financed by donor partners have inhibited the realization of universal health coverage in Malawi and that donor partners should increase direct budgetary support to the Malawian government to enable an alignment between the government’s health priorities and the available financial resources.

Care coordination is a priority for the improvement of healthcare provision in complex health problems like cancer. The purpose of this study is to analyze the barriers and facilitators of care coordination for the diagnosis of cancer from the perspective of healthcare workers, health managers and administrators of healthcare networks, and public policymakers from Cundinamarca, Colombia. A descriptive-interpretative qualitative study was conducted. Data collection was done through 55 individual semi-structured interviews. Thematic analysis of the content (segmented by network, informant group and theme) was done. The results in both healthcare networks reveal poor care coordination between levels of care for the early diagnosis of cancer, attributed to every institution working independently and the non-existence of effective communication between general practitioners and specialists. Different factors were perceived as barriers for care coordination. Highlighting some related to the health system, such as, the restriction of the provision of care for the benefits plan limited to the level of care the health professional works at, and implementation problems for the integrated routes of healthcare provision directed towards cancer. In relation to health services, participants also described that the models of payment and hiring of healthcare providers by the insurers, lead to fragmented purchase of services and purchase of services outside of the patient’s territory. As well as long waiting times for specialized tests and appointments stablished by health insurers. The barriers related to the healthcare institutions are explained by the participants by the existence of inadequate work/labor conditions and the lack of spaces for shared use of care coordination mechanisms. Finally, health professionals from the lower complexity levels of care, lack the necessary knowledge and experience in the evaluation of ‘red flag’ signs and symptoms for the suspicion of cancer. And specialized professionals lack interest for teamwork with lower levels of care and don’t provide feedback to general physicians. Some facilitators emerged from early screening within health services, as well as follow up and epidemiologic follow-up for patients with the suspicion of cancer. Because of the number of barriers, different strategies are required for the design and implementation of interventions tailored to the improvement of care coordination between levels of care for the early diagnosis of cancer.

Introduction: The isolation and mobility restriction measures, adopted with the aim of reducing the speed of transmission of the virus during the Covid-19 pandemic, exhibited the weaknesses of the health systems, generating the need to seek alternatives to continue the the provision of health services. One of the strategies used was Telemedicine, which has proven to be a useful and effective tool for remote patient care, but requires progress in its regulation and implementation according to the needs of each country. Objective: Identify strategies and technological tools based on telemedicine, used as an alternative to continue the provision of health services in Latin America during the Covid-19 pandemic. Methodology: Scope review in seven databases based on the verification criteria of the PRISMA tool. Results: 730 articles were recovered, of which 48 were included and correspond to nine Latin American countries: Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Cuba, Ecuador, Mexico, Paraguay and Peru. The studies report the telephone call and the use of video platforms as the most common strategies for the development of teleconsultation, in different medical specialties. Conclusions: There is a variety of technological alternatives used in telemedicine. It is necessary to expand the research line for the evaluation of the results in the different health interventions (health promotion, disease prevention, diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation, palliation), carried out through telemedicine.

OBJECTIVE. To describe the epidemiological behavior of pulmonary tuberculosis in the population deprived of liberty in Colombia during 2015 to 2019. METHODOLOGY. During the practice at the National Institute of Health (INS) a retrospective descriptive study was carried out with two methodological scenarios. The first had a cross-sectional design that has the reported subjects as the unit of analysis. In a second place, an ecological study of aggregate measures of incidence and mortality of TB (Tuberculosis) cases in PPL (Population Deprived of Liberty) was considered. For the above, the databases with information collected and published from data open to the Public Health Surveillance System (SIVIGILA) were taken into account. In the analysis of the aggregated data, the number of PPL patients with TB from each of the six Regionals that were reported to SIVIGILA during 2015 to 2019 was taken into account, over the total number of PPL of each regional per 100,000. In addition, a simple linear regression analysis was performed for the behavior description; for the above and taking into account the nature of the variable, the value of R2 was estimated, which showed the magnitude of change in the incidence and mortality from TB during the period of the five years analyzed. RESULTS. As a result, it was evidenced that the incidence and mortality is different in each of the Regionals. In the Western Region (RO) an increase is observed; evidenced by an R2 = 0.81 in relation to the dependent variable, which in this case is year. On the other hand, in the Northwest Region (RNO) it is observed that the highest mortality occurred; evidenced by an R2 = 0.72. The variation between the incidence and mortality data was supported with the statistical tables of the INPEC (National Penitentiary and Prison Institute) where it was observed that the OR is not the one that presented the greatest overcrowding during the period of the five years analyzed, but if the one that presented the highest incidence, unlike the RNO where more overcrowding was observed, less incidence in TB cases, but presenting the highest TB mortality in the same period. CONCLUSION. The descriptive and trend analysis of the time series on the PPL allowed generating a contextualization of the problems experienced by this population group. It is correlated and confirmed that the overcrowding of the PPL in Colombia during this period continues to be an important determinant to correct for the control of TB and an objective to be achieved in the Ten-Year Public Health Plans. This type of analysis is of great contribution when proposing any possible intervention strategy against TB and, as recommendations, it is important to analyze which different strategies have been used by OR to control mortality and which could be implemented in OR with high mortality rate.

Guevara Pardo, Eberto Elias
Restrepo Espinosa, María Helena
Buitrago Medina, Daniel Alejandro
During years 2020, the world faced a pandemic due to a new infectious disease called COVID-19, characterized by high transmissibility and easy contagion between people. With COVID-19, social inequalities were exposed and also aroused fears of contagion and death which were associated with different types of stigmas towards those infected. Taking this into consideration, this research intended to identify the needs for psychosocial support derived from the characterization of social inequalities and the perception of stigma, in people with a positive diagnosis for COVID-19 in the city of Quibdó during 2020, through a cross-sectional study. A survey was applied in order to obtain quantitative information; and later, interviews were conducted with 10 key informants, to learn about their experiences with the disease and identify the needs for psychosocial support. 57.8% of the subjects were women and 42% men. Stigma was also correlated with sociodemographic variables, and it was found that the socioeconomic condition was most significant, in special the income level. In summary, 46.4% of those considered as stigmatized expressed requiring psychosocial support. In conclusion, persons diagnosed with COVID-19 in 2020 in the city of Quibdó, in general perceived negative experiences related to stigma and discrimination, making psychosocial support as a need in order to overcome negative experiences.

Aim: To identify the representations related to risk notion against COVID-19 and repercussions on their life trajectory in university students from a higher education institution in Bogotá. Method: Qualitative research with a phenomenological approach. Semi-structured interviews with open-ended questions were used with seventeen university students, academically active young adults, at an institution of higher education in Bogotá. Theoretical reduction, triangulation and data analysis were performed with Microsoft Excel®, based on the units of analysis proposed in the specific objectives of this study. Results: The concept of COVID-19 and its effects on the health-disease process from the physical-biological aspect were clearly identified in the category “others” by the young people interviewed; however, the impact on the social, academic and economic spheres was recognized in itself as a result of the pandemic and confinement, affecting their life project. On the other hand, the perception and risk notion in the face of contagion and the physical consequences of the disease demonstrate a social behavior in which "being young" is perceived as a favorable condition of invulnerability related to the characteristics of the life cycle, particularity that is lost as age increases. Conclusions: The social representation and the risk notion in the face of COVID-19 is built from the concept of the disease which is conceived and dimensioned "from the outside". Meanwhile, the opportunity for access to the vaccine is perceived as a favorable condition that will mitigate the contagion favoring the conditions of reopening and “new normal”. Finally, the contingency in public health has helped to reveal the need for participation and listening on the part of young people who demand a position of greater visibility in their social contexts.

Objective: To characterize the oral health conditions and nutritional status in children from 0 to 5 years old who attend the foundation: Trabajando Por Una Vida Digna - FUNTRAVIDI of the El Codito neighborhood in the first semester of 2020 in the city of Bogotá. Scope: It is aimed at children under 5 years of age who attend the FUNTRAVIDI Foundation of the El Codito sector in Bogotá: parents and / or guardians and educational references of the foundation, to strengthen their capacities in the promotion of appropriate habits and practices that favor quality of life and oral and nutritional health care, through a process of self-care, oral hygiene habits and nutritional habits. Results: Diagnoses that allow the identification of nutritional and oral health problems in early stages. Control of the risks that may arise according to the nutritional and oral health status. Greater knowledge of parents regarding their children's nutrition and oral health. Conclusions: The program seeks to reach the foundation's early childhood population by performing oral health and nutrition intervention in order to improve or reduce nutritional and oral health risk. By evaluating the nutritional and oral health status of children under 5 years of age, it will be possible to identify the shortcomings and alterations present, to be able to be intervened in a timely manner and in this way to guarantee quality of life and well-being. 4 From our experience with the internship, we can conclude that the foundations in oral health and early childhood nutrition are directly related to the adoption of adequate eating and brushing habits. Nutritional habits are associated with the development of cavities in all children, regardless of their socioeconomic status and place of residence. Therefore, activities for the implementation of prevention and promotion programs for oral health and nutrition should be approached from a multidisciplinary point of view aimed at improving nutritional habits at the family level.

The current organizational structure and information systems of health care make it difficult to adequately measure health outcomes (Porter, 2010). Institutions tend to measure only what they directly control in a specific intervention and it also happens that they measure the results of said interventions and treatments by departments or billing units, in exchange for measuring the complete care cycle, on which the value is determined. of health care (Porter, 2010). For this reason, the Fundación Santa Fe de Bogotá in October 2021 creates the health outcomes unit, under the subdirection of clinical performance metrics, in which the development of this internship is approved, with the objective of measuring health outcomes for the prostate pathology service line during the period between February and May 2022.

Pinzon Rondon, Angela Maria
The COVID-19 pandemic has posed unprecedented challenges to the healthcare system worldwide. In this context, nursing assistants and professionals have been the backbone of the medical response, facing extremely demanding and often overwhelming working conditions. Understanding their perceptions and experiences is essential not only to recognize their commendable work, but also to identify areas for improvement in managing future health crises. A qualitative phenomenological approach presents itself as an appropriate tool to capture the richness and depth of these unique work experiences. The pandemic has introduced unique challenges to the nursing field, from lack of personal protective equipment to concern for the health of self and loved ones. The phenomenological study allows us to explore how these conditions have influenced the meaning and significance of work for the participants, revealing dimensions beyond the quantitative data. Introducing the gender perspective in the approach to the problems of working conditions in the health areas requires considering the differences in the relationships between women and men, which determine different values and behaviors, inequalities in power and access to resources and opportunities, as well as the deep and historical sexual division of labor. Therefore, this work seeks to understand and analyze these topics within the different interactions and working conditions in the nursing area in Bogota, Colombia.

Pohl Valero, Stefan
This work seeks to analyze and explore the historical configuration of vegetable mixtures and the birth of Bienestarina framed in the conception of the problem of child malnutrition, nutritional intervention strategies and the implementation of nutritional and food policies between the end of the decade. 1950 and early 1970s. To achieve this analysis, a qualitative methodology is followed with a historical approach in which it is exposed how the mentioned foods appear for the first time in the second wave of nutritional strategies which were the result of transformations of global and local contexts, the latter approached from power, the discourse of development and Global Health. The content of this research is divided into two chapters, the first one reveals actors and contexts that will determine the emergence of health strategies based on the practice of nutrition, which results in the creation of vegetable mixtures. In the second, from an institutional perspective, economic and political phenomena in Colombia are exposed that, in line with the first chapter, allow us to establish the arrival of these mixtures and the birth of Bienestarina as a technical-political tool in the midst of global food tensions.

This thesis addresses the process in which the Health System in Colombia was created through jurisdictional construction, using a special focus on the Law 100 and the creation of the General System of Social Security regarding Health; it also covers the background of the process that made it possible for this system to exist, framing all the above within the change that took place in which Colombia passed from a development model to a neoliberal one, a process that is analysed from the economic and political points of views in the country and its impact on the conceptions of health. After reviewing the Law 100, deepening within the process of developing the public health system, an analysis of the modifications done to the social security system in health through the Law 1122 of 2007 was made. Finally, the structural changes of the SGSSS are analyzed based on the judgment T-760 of 2008, which declares that health is an autonomous fundamental right linked to life, and this study ends with the analysis of the health social emergency that took place during the period 2009-2010 under the government of Alvaro Uribe Vélez. In conclusion, the thesis states that the vicissitudes of the neoliberal model that governs health in the country originate in the difficulties of its implementation and those of the exercise of public health, given that the SGSSS is built from a perspective of privatizing the system and supporting this purpose in private insurance.

Casallas Murillo, Ana Lucia
Benavides Piracón, John
Breast cancer remains a significant health challenge, and timely access to care is crucial for improving patient outcomes. The purpose of this study was to analyze the implications of care opportunity on survival and experiences of women with breast cancer treated at a hospital center in the Department of Huila, during the period 2014 - 2022. This study was framed within a multimethod design that employed a strategy of findings complementation. To achieve this, a retrospective closed cohort analysis was conducted based on the medical records of 425 women diagnosed with breast cancer, and 12 interviews were carried out with women in the follow-up stage of breast cancer. Descriptive statistics and multivariate models (Cox Regression and Multiple Linear Regression) adjusted for confounding variables were used for quantitative data analysis. Content analysis was employed to identify prominent categories during the disease trajectory in qualitative data. The results revealed an inverse relationship between care opportunity and survival. In this cohort, the median waiting time for breast cancer care was 86 days, with a survival rate of 83%. Furthermore, it was found that for patients diagnosed at stages I and II, the risk of death reduced by 84% (HR=0.165, 95% CI=0.92 - 0.295). The study also unveiled that delayed care led to uncertainty among patients, fearing disease progression during the delay. The findings underscore the importance of early diagnosis and reducing waiting times to enhance both the likelihood of survival and the patient experience during the disease trajectory.

Description of the topic: Health is a fundamental part for the well-being of the entire population, therefore "access to health implies that all people must have care without discrimination, it must be comprehensive, timely and of quality" ( 1). However, this is not 100% fulfilled, a clear example is the population of the Codito of the Foundation working for a dignified life (FUNTRAVIDI), where pregnant and lactating women present limitations and barriers in accessing and providing services of health. Objective: To identify in a participatory way sustainable strategies of orientation, agency and advocacy for the access and provision of health services of pregnant and lactating users of FUNTRAVIDI, in order to favor access and provision of health services. Methodology: We worked from a participatory-action approach where we start from the experiences of users, leaders, and health personnel in this sector. In addition, strategies are sought to improve access to and delivery of health services. Results: the population of pregnant and lactating women who consulted for presenting problems for the access and provision of health services was characterized, orientation, agency and health advocacy strategies were identified, new strategies of agency orientation and health advocacy to promote access and provision of health services for FUNTRAVIDI users.

ABSTRACT: Objective: To describe the epidemiological profile of cases of maternal mortality in Bogotá. Methodology: Descriptive study, of 122 cases of maternal mortality, reported by official secondary sources. Socio-demographic variables, prenatal and delivery care and death were analyzed. Results: 40.2% of women died during pregnancy, the rest in postpartum and late postpartum, mostly due to indirect causes, 70% were unplanned pregnancies, 5.7% of deaths were in non-hospital areas. Having optimal prenatal control was related to income and insurance. Inadequate prenatal care increased deaths during pregnancy. Direct deaths were avoidable and indirect ones were considered non-avoidable. Having comorbidities is related to insufficient prenatal control, indirect death and lower preventability. Conclusions: Maternal mortality in Bogotá is related to prenatal care, income, insurance and comorbidities. The obstetric risk management must be optimized.

Camargo Rojas, Diana Alexandra
Objective: To identify multimodal interventions focused on the perception of quality of life in people over 60 years of age with AD, published in the scientific literature between 2009 and 2022, through a scoping review. Methodology: methodological design of scoping review, proposed by JBI and PRISMA ScR, which allows to identify concepts by conducting a thorough review of the scientific literature. It includes experimental, quasi-experimental and observational studies in English and Spanish that develop multimodal interventions in people over 60 years of age with AD in the perception of quality of life, between January 2009 and December 2022. To which the research team met to identify relevant databases with scientific literature focused on health, selecting PubMed, EBSCO. Next, the terms DeSC and MeSH were determined: Quality of Life, Alzheimer Disease Disease and in the descriptor DeCS: Quality of Life, Alzheimer Disease. The selection of evidence was classified into extraction by means of Zotero® Software and selection by means of Rayyan® software. Finally, the articles were completely read and a critical evaluation of the articles was made by means of the CONSORT and STROBE scales; the articles with more than 40% approval were selected. Results: The articles included for synthesis and review were a total of 17 articles of experimental type (randomized controlled trials RCT). Heterogeneity of the interventions was evidenced, which were grouped into four categories, the most relevant being cognitive rehabilitation, followed by interventions based on education, and finally, interventions based on physical activity and exercise and art therapy. Finally, it was evidenced that the years with the most research in the area were 2017 and 2020. Additionally, these studies are conducted with greater predominance in the European continent, specifically in Portugal, Germany and France. Conclusions: Multimodal interventions in the perception of the quality of life of people with AD demonstrate the importance of integrating the different and diverse aspects that affect the health of people with AD, always taking into ccount the preferences of the person, the stage of the disease and their caregiver.

Objective: to establish the connection between family functionality and adherence to the treatment, with glycosylated haemoglobin in patients diagnosed with type 2 Mellitus diabetes from a medical insurance institution in Soacha Colombia. Materials and methodology: a cross sectional study was done, to evaluate the family functionality and the adherence to the program a special instrument was designed and used with the family APGAR and the Morisky green scale accordingly, on top of that, from the medical records, the glycosylated haemoglobin values were taken. Binary logistic regression models were performed, seeking to associate family functionality and adherence to treatment, with the values of the two highest quartiles of glycosylated haemoglobin, the crude and adjusted beta exponent were calculated. Results: when the patient referred abandoning the treatment when not tolerating it, increases the possibility of having a high glycosylated haemoglobin (ORajust 4.07; 95% CI, 0.86-19.28), the patients who reported being satisfied with the participation of their family and friends in their treatment have developed protection factors for high values of glycosylated haemoglobin with (ORajust 0.56; 95% CI, 0.35-0.89); (ORajust 0.70; CI95%, 0.45-1.10) respectively. Conclusion: some factors related to adherence to treatment represent a risk factor for presenting prominent levels of glycosylated haemoglobin; On the other hand, having the support of family and friends corresponds to protective factors. This knowledge could help design health promotion strategies focused on strengthening care based on family and friends.

Background: Cervical Cancer is one of the leading causes of death in women in the world. Cytology has allowed a timely diagnosis to reduce their mortality, however, some women continue without access to it. The objective of this article is to explore whether there is an associated factor between cytology and multidimensional poverty in Colombia. Methods: Secondary analysis of the National Demography and Health Survey, Colombia 2015. Information is included on 22 446 women between 21 and 49 years of age who have started their sexual life and who did not have a hysterectomy. Descriptive statistics of the sample are presented and measures of association between vaginal cytology and multidimensional poverty raw and adjusted from logistic regression models were calculated. Results: frequencies were performed where 95.7% of them were performed cytology and 86.1% obtained the result. The adjusted models show the cytology taking is associated with age, marital status, place of residence, the wealth quintile (very poor, poor and medium) and with multidimensional poverty: educational achievement (OR: 0.95; IC95 %: 0.92-0.98); childhood conditions (OR: 0.66; 95% CI: 0.5-0.86); assurance (OR: 0.83; 95% CI: 0.78-0.89); formal employment (OR: 1.32; 95% CI: 1.07-1.62) and access to public services (OR: 1.19; 95% CI: 1.09-1.29). Conclusions: This study shows both the beneficial and harmful association of the dimensions of multidimensional poverty with the taking of cytology.

Introduction: Leishmaniasis is a zoonosis transmitted between mammals through the bite of the female sand fly, of the genus Lutzomyia. This parasitic disease presents in three clinical forms: cutaneous, mucocutaneous and visceral. It is endemic to hot and vulnerable rural areas. In Colombia, members of armed groups frequently pass through these areas and the prevalence of this pathology in said population is unknown. This study aims to determine the seroprevalence of VL in FARC demobilized in the Miravalle rural area of the department of Caquetá. Method: cross-sectional study in the population of 60 demobilized FARC in the Miravalle green zone of Caquetá. The seroprevalence of visceral leishmaniasis was determined by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Result: 40 people agreed to participate in the study, 52% were female, 30% had Leishmania lesions, and received treatment with glucantime. The prevalence of visceral Leishmania (VL) was 1.6% and 8.3% of people with cutaneous leishmaniasis and there was no association between the different blood groups and the disease. Discussion: Which leads us to think that despite the low incidence or prevalence of VL, it has always been latent in the national territory and, as it is a disease of great impact, it is necessary to carry out more studies on seroprevalence in different population groups.

This research seeks to identify changes in the prevalence of obesity and malnutrition, proportion of deaths attributed to obesity, daily caloric supply per person, mortality rate from obesity in Colombia, proportion of excess weight and global malnutrition in children under 5 years in Bogotá, related to products imported from the United States (USA) from 2005 to 2019, taking as a reference the implementation of the Colombia-USA Free Trade Agreement (FTA) in 2012. An ecological study and a critical policy analysis are carried out, establishing the breaking point years of each of the variables to determine if they are close to the implementation of the FTA and a Pearson correlation is made between the variables. As a result, an annual progressive increase in the proportion of obesity and deaths attributed to obesity in Colombia related to higher expenditure on imports is identified. There is also evidence of a decrease in malnutrition in Bogotá and Colombia, finding a decreasing correlation with respect to food imported from the USA, it should be clarified that there are other variables such as government policies, social determinants of health, food quality, etc., which affect the results. Finally, the changes produced in the BMI of a population may not be evidenced in an accelerated way at the time of signing the FTA, since they occur over time, for this reason other analyzes must be done in successive years with different research methods.

Prieto Alvarado, Franklyn Edwin
Introduction: mobile technologies, due to their easy use and widespread dissemination, have become an important tool in public health, allowing early identification of outbreaks as a complement to traditional surveillance. The objective was to analyze the data of a mobile application to detect diseases of interest in public health related to the visit of Pope Francis to Colombia. Methods: participatory surveillance is applied through the Guardianes de la Salud mobile application, implemented for Colombia on Android devices, adapted from the development of Proepi and the Ministry of Health of Brazil for the Rio de Janeiro 2014 Olympic Games. It was questioned about 20 symptoms That allows to detect respiratory, febrile, gastrointestinal, exanthemic and icteric syndromes, related to events of interest in public health. He asked about travel history and contact with other patients. The data is monitored during the days of the Pope's visit to the country and up to seven days later. Results: 936 reports were received, 60.2% (283) were from Bogotá, 23.0% (215) from the department of Meta and 22.0% (206) from Antioquia, there are also reports from other countries such as Brazil ( 21), the United States, Panama (3), Chile (2) and Costa Rica (1). 55.1% (516) were women, the average age was 39 years (D.E. 12.3). 8.5% (80) reported their health status, being the main symptom of headache in 41.3% (33), followed by discomfort 40.0% (32) and nasal congestion 38.8% ( 31). 53.7% (43) of the reports are associated with some of the prioritized syndromes, the main one being February in 22 cases and gastrointestinal in 11. Conclusion: no conglomerates of important public health cases were detected. The tool allowed to involve the general public in the notification of their health status. It is necessary to promote the use of this application or the measure that increases the number of users, as well as the sensitivity provided by the expanded monitoring of participatory surveillance.

Estrada Montoya, John Harold
Durán-Torres, Felipe
Mixed cross-sectional study whose Objective was to describe how the number and geographical distribution of health providers and professionals constitute barriers to access to health services in the department of Caquetá, putting, in turn, in evidences the perception of some actors in the system regarding these. Methodology: in the quantitative phase, secondary data were collected through querying databases and a distance / travel time measurement system was applied; while in the qualitative phase, semi-structured interviews were conducted with patients, professionals and health administrators. Results: 28 public providers and 242 private providers were identified. Caquetá has a first level service provider in all municipalities, second in 1 and third in none; as well as 136, 103 and 3 low, medium and high complexity providers, respectively. From the 16 municipalities, 3 have an access barrier to health services, 2 by land and 1 by river. There are 1.0 health workers for every 1,000 inhabitants. The interviewees perceive that users face geographical, economic, technological barriers, bureaucratic itineraries, lack of health personnel and type of diagnosis. Conclusions: travel time, the distance traveled to a highly complex hospital, the availability of human resources in health and bureaucratic itineraries are determinants of the access barrier to health services in Caquetá.

Objective: This study seeks to establish the association between sociodemographic and work factors and the diagnosis of Burnout Syndrome in health personnel in the Northern Subnet of Bogotá D.C., during the period between April and September 2023. Material and methods: Quantitative cross-sectional study with an analytical approach, with the purpose of analyzing the relationship between sociodemographic and organizational variables linked to Burnout Syndrome. Results: The study reveals that 77.2% of health personnel are women, with an average age of 43 years, and 59% have an indirect contract. The general prevalence of Burnout syndrome is 3.1%, with rates of 4% in care workers and 5% in direct contracts. The total scale shows a Cronbach's Alpha of 0.854. A significant association is observed between Burnout and rotating schedules (p=0.092, OR=1.560 95% CI 0.929-2.631) and taking work home (p=0.000, OR=2.368 95% CI 1.504-3.728). Higher education is risky (p=0.000, OR=2.450 95% CI 0.331-0.788), but also protective for professional efficiency (p=0.002, OR=0.511 95% CI 1.666-3.66). Conclusions: Significant relationship between sociodemographic and work variables and Burnout Syndrome. Higher education has a dual relationship, positively correlating with professional efficiency, but also with risks of burnout and cynicism. Work factors such as additional workload, rotating schedules and type of contract act as significant predictors of Burnout, suggesting the need for specific interventions. The lower risk of burnout in workers with indirect contracts raises questions that require detailed research adapted to the work environment.

Pinzón Rondón, Ángela María
This project was directed to the implementation of the Friendly Services Program for the prevention of unwanted pregnancies of adolescents in the municipality of Santa Bárbara Iscuandé. This implementation was carried out through awareness and information on the generating issues for the target population, the activation and socialization of the Friendly Clinic for adolescents from 10 to 19 years old belonging to the community and, finally, the evaluation of the impact from the implementation of the program in the municipal seat, through the application of an evaluation questionnaire in which participants were able to express their opinion about the program, knowledge and generating issues. The project included some tools of the methodology of research and participatory action (IAP), based on a process of reflection-action-reflection, and in which the participation of the community was fundamental. In the same way, different activities were carried out, such as academic talks, consultancies, interventions, events and massive activities, among others for the fulfillment of the proposed objectives. The results show that the Iscuandereña community is informed and sensitized to Sexual and Reproductive Health, the friendly office activated and functioning and with a positive impact reflected in the surveys.

Introduction: knowledge and adherence to standard precautions play a fundamental role in the prevention of occupational accidents due to biological risk in health workers and in the prevention of infections associated with health care. Methodology: a cross-sectional study of a sample of 197 university students in the area of health was carried out during the second half of 2015. The variables that were considered in this study were gender, age, academic program, semester they are attending, training history, and knowledge about standard precautions and adherence to biological risk prevention practices. A statistically significant difference (p <0.05) was found between knowledge about: the use of gloves for all health care occasions, the type of virus that is most easily transmitted by puncture, the practice of hand washing after remove gloves, and the academic program, semester and training history. Results: the average age of the respondents was 22.2 years (SD 1.37 years), 80.7% were women and the predominant program was medicine with 53.8% including students who were in hospital practices. 71.1% of respondents said they had received training on biological risk previously. Using a logistic regression model, it was found that the training history was significant to explain the probability that a student will practice handwashing after removing gloves (p = 0.015). Conclusion: the previous training in biological risk at the beginning of clinical practices must be considered for the implementation of an accident prevention program due to biological risk factors.

Yasnot Acosta, María Fernanda
Objective: Categorize the emphases of publications on dengue produced in health research groups recognized by the Ministry of Sciences, Technology and Innovation through the Health Research Classification System (HRCS) 1989 to 2022 Methodology: To categorize the publications, the Health Research Classification System (HRCS) was used. The information was taken from the Scienti platform of Minciencias Results: It was found that of the 1040 groups that are part of the Medical and Health Sciences knowledge area, 169 contribute knowledge about dengue. The emphases and focus of the publications focused mainly on etiology, detection, evaluation, the diagnosis and prevention of dengue and the departments with the greatest strength in publications are Antioquia and Santander, with Medellín and Bogotá being the cities with the highest production of articles. Conclusions: Colombia has 169 research groups that publish in health categories related to dengue and other arboviruses that were not of interest in this work, there are still categories such as foundation, development of treatments and therapeutic interventions and policies, systems, social services and health in which research and publication are needed. Therefore, it is pertinent to promote and strengthen research capabilities in dengue. However, there are still categories such as foundation, development of treatments and therapeutic interventions and policies, systems, social and health services in which research and publication are needed. Therefore, it is pertinent to promote and strengthen dengue research capabilities and the human talent of some research groups in the country.

Olivera Rivero, Mario Javier
Background: Chagas disease (CD), caused by the protozoan Trypanosoma cruzi is considered a public health problem in Latin America. In Colombia, it affects more than 437,000 inhabitants, mainly in Casanare, an endemic region with eco-epidemiological characteristics that favor its transmission. Diagnosis of the disease is complex due to the dynamics of parasitaemia in the clinical phases, which is why timely identification improves the clinical course and prevents fatal complications. The objective of this study was to describe the clinical and epidemiological characteristics of the cases of acute CD in Casanare, eastern Colombia in the period 2012-2020. Methods: In the present study, 103 medical records of confirmed cases of acute CD were reviewed. The departmental/national incidence and fatality were compared by year; The climatological aspects of mean temperature, relative humidity and precipitation per year were reviewed and plotted at IDEAM with respect to the number of cases of acute CD per month and it was compared with the frequency of triatomines collected in the home by community surveillance. Univariate, bivariate, and multivariate analyzes were performed, comparing symptoms and signs according to transmission route, complications, and age groups. Results: The incidence was 3.16 cases per 100,000 inhabitants and the fatality rate was 20% in the study period. The most frequent symptoms included: fever 98.1%, myalgia 62.1%, arthralgia 60.2%, and headache 49.5%. There were significant differences in the frequency of myalgia, abdominal pain and periorbital edema in oral transmission. The main complications were pericardial effusion, myocarditis and heart failure in the group over 18 years of age. In Casanare, TcI has mainly been identified in humans, triatomines and reservoirs such as possums and dogs, as well as TcBat in bats. An increase in the number of acute CD cases was evidenced in the month of March, a period in which precipitation increases due to the beginning of the rainy season. Conclusions: The results corroborate the symptomatic heterogeneity of the acute phase of CD, which delays treatment, triggering possible clinical complications. In endemic regions, clinical suspicion, diagnostic capacity, and detection and surveillance programs should be strengthened, as well as intersectoral public health policies for their prevention and control.

COVID-19, declared a pandemic by the World Health Organization (WHO) on March 11, 2020, has presented to date a confirmed number of 208,470,375 infections worldwide, with a mortality of 2.1%, and 4,877,323 cases in Colombia, with a mortality of 2.5%; After COVID-19 infection, there may be residual symptoms according to various observational studies carried out around the world. This study presents the prevalence of residual symptoms three months after acute infection by COVID-19 at the physical, mental and cognitive level, in relation to the severity of the symptoms and the different sociodemographic, personal and pathological antecedents of a group of patients from Bogotá, between the first and second semesters of 2020. Methodology: A prospective cohort analytical study was carried out, with non-probabilistic convenience sampling in 191 patients with a diagnosis of COVID19 infection, in a group of patients from Bogotá, during the year 2020. A survey was designed online for the collection of information, for the follow-up of patients 3 months after discharge. Sociodemographic and clinical variables were collected. Variables, bivariate and multivariate analyzes are performed. Results: Among the most prevalent physical symptoms are fatigue and sensory alterations in 35.6% of the studied population, followed by dyspnea in 27.2% of the population. As well as mental and cognitive symptoms, 5.8% of cases of anxiety 2.1% of depression and 3.7% of neurological deterioration. The appearance of sensory and motor alterations is statistically related to the ICU requirement and the smoking history, as well as fatigue with smoking history. Finally, when performing a multivariate analysis, some variables associated with sensory impairment, anxiety and cognitive deficit present a normal distribution, with high probability, at a value close to reality. Conclusion: The persistence of symptoms 3 months after COVID-19 infection has a greater impact on neurological and respiratory symptoms, neurological symptoms are statistically significantly associated with the requirement of ICU during care for SARS-CoV infection -2. At the public health level, larger studies are required to continue evaluating the impact of symptoms on people who have suffered from COVID-19

Conclusions: Multimodal interventions in the perception of the quality of life of people with AD demonstrate the importance of integrating the different and diverse aspects that affect the health of people with AD, always taking into account the preferences of the person, the stage of the disease and their caregiver.

Organophosphates and carbamates are pesticides commonly used in rural areas. Frequently, alterations in neurodevelopment have been observed in children exposed to these compounds. It is necessary to conduct a scoping review to gather information about these neurodevelopmental alterations and to plan mitigation measures, education with multidisciplinary teams for affected children and their families. Method: Searches were conducted in different electronic databases including ScienceDirect, PubMed, and Scielo, covering the period between 2013 and 2023. Articles describing neurological alterations in children exposed to rural areas were included using search terms: (organophosphate) AND (carbamate)) AND (child)) AND (rural), (organophosphate) AND (carbamate) AND (child), organophosphate AND carbamate AND children OR rural. A total of 7 studies were selected. Results: The majority of the published studies were conducted in two main countries: Colombia (28.57% n=2), China (28.57% n=2), United States (28.57% n=2), and Costa Rica (14.29% n=1). Regarding study design, cross-sectional and cohort studies were found in equal proportion; (Cross-sectional: 42.86% n=3), (Case-control: 14.29% n=1), (Cohort: 42.86% n=3). The most studied neurodevelopmental effects were as follows: Neurodevelopmental disorder: 10.71%, Cognitive dysfunction: 10.71%, Association with behavioral disorders: 17.86%, Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder: 17.86%, Autism spectrum disorders: 17.86%, Decreased intelligence quotient: 3.57%, Delay in neuro-psychomotor development: 3.57%, Attention and concentration problems: 3.57%, Decreased learning ability: 3.57%, Verbal comprehension and processing speed: 3.57%, Working memory alterations: 7.14%. The study results consistently revealed that exposure to pesticides and carbamates was associated with adverse neurobehavioral outcomes in children from rural areas. Discussion: The scoping review has shown that pesticide exposure can have a negative impact on the health of children residing in rural areas. However, certain methodological limitations and inconsistencies were identified, weakening the robustness of the conclusions. To address these limitations, it is crucial to strengthen capacity development, integrate research initiatives, and conduct more rigorous epidemiological/longitudinal studies in rural communities. These efforts will effectively inform public health surveillance systems and maximize the impact of research on policy formulation.

American Public Health concept -Assumed as a specific body of knowledge and its multiple applications- played a key role as a continental tool of domination. From the last two decades of XIX century until the two first of the XX, its importance transcended the scientific interest, molding the geopolitical and sociocultural values of the whole continent. this investigation attempts to identify the multiple factors that were involved in the construction of an utilitary Public Health concept, able to ease american domination in the first two decades of the XX century.

Objective: To compare the opportunity in the start of treatment in patients with a diagnosis of gastric cancer, treated under the modality of prospective global payment contract (PGP) and under the modality of contract by event at the National Cancer Institute (INC) during the year 2019. Methods: This is a retrospective cohort observational analytical study. The target population were patients over 18 years of age who began the process of care for their diagnosis of gastric cancer at the INC between January 1 and December 31, 2019. Results: When conducting the review and analysis of the electronic medical records of the target population, it was observed that patients with severe associated comorbidities have a delay in the initiation of cancer treatment due to the execution of the prior control of the underlying pathologies; When performing the statistical analysis and the unadjusted and adjusted quantile regression (by age, sex and type of first therapy) of the data, excluding those with extreme values (above 2 SD, n= 14, and corresponding to the cases with comorbidity), for opportunities 1 (time elapsed in days since the ordering of the treatment and the start of this) and 2 (time elapsed in days since the definition of the treatment and the start of this), a shorter waiting time was evidenced (median in days) in the implementation of the first treatment in patients treated under the PGP contract modality compared with patients treated under contract by Event, the result of opportunity 2 being statistically significant (p= 0.007). For opportunity 3 (time elapsed in days from the first visit to the INC and the start of treatment), a longer waiting time (median in days) was obtained at the start of the first treatment in patients seen under the PGP modality compared to those attended under Event contract (p= 0.014). Conclusions: Differences were identified in the opportunities at the beginning of the first treatment of the population with gastric cancer treated under different contract modalities between the insurers and the INC by excluding the data with extreme values corresponding to cases with severe comorbidities, however, it is recommended for Future research, where possible, have patients who are cared for under the different contracting modalities and who live in Bogotá and outside the city in order to make a more accurate comparison of the results obtained, in addition to being able to have access to better information. quality in terms of sociodemographic factors of the population studied to establish possible causes that may also delay the start of cancer treatment.

Pohl Valero, Stefan
Niño Machado, Natalia
This article shows an analysis of the practices associated with the preparation and execution of the minutes with a differential approach, aimed at a school feeding programme operating in a meal center of a children's home in Colombia that serves children belonging to an indigenous Pijao community. The study had a qualitative approach that sought to describe and analyze, first, the institutional guidelines that enhanced the creation of the differential approach minutes as a nutritional standard, which gradually, tried to integrate in its elaboration, cultural aspects of the food phenomenon of the population recognized as differential. Second, its implementation in a specific case, according to the appraisal of the actors involved in the process (nutritionist, food handler, educational agents, parents and children). With these, it is intended to show how in practice the implementation of the differential approach in the school feeding service is carried out, the responsibility of the different actors, and the impact of food education of the children’s home on the children’s families costumes.

Care coordination is essential for the adequate performance of the health service networks. The Colombian health system, characterized by high fragmentation of services, presents problems of coordination between care levels that have not been sufficiently studied, particularly its changes in public networks in different periods of time. The objective of this paper is to analyze the changes in the experience and perception of care coordination of primary care and specialized care physicians of two public sub-networks of health services in Bogotá in 2015 and 2017, before and after an intervention of joint meetings and the reorganization of the health care model in the city.

Mental Health Literacy can be understood as a learning process that is materialized through educational interventions to understand mental disorders and their treatments, allowing their recognition, management, or prevention. As one of its components, first-aid skills are mentioned to support people who are experiencing a psychological crisis or who are developing mental disorders. Due to the stigma associated with mental health professionals, these people are likely to seek help from religious leaders before turning to these professionals. However, one of the problems in doing so is that these leaders may not have sufficient knowledge to adequately address certain crisis situations, or to detect signs and symptoms that should also be treated clinically/therapeutically. For this reason, the objective of this work was to design and implement a Mental Health Literacy Program for leaders, mentors, and servant members of a Christian church in the city of Santa Marta, Colombia. This was done through the design and application of an initial survey and a theoretical-practical training on Psychological First Aid. 30 people answered the initial survey; 40 people entered the training phase of the Program, of which 27 people completed at least 4 of the 6 hours of training. To evaluate the Program, a satisfaction questionnaire, a Post-Test, and a role-playing activity were designed. 100% of the people who filled out the satisfaction questionnaire responded that they were satisfied with the training, that the content was interesting and pertinent, and that it provided them with practical and useful intervention skills for their role. 100% of those who filled out the Post-Test demonstrated theoretical understanding of the training. The role-playing activity show that the participants in the role of helper were able to apply 3 or more intervention strategies of Psychological First Aid, presented attitudes of leadership, self-control, empathy, or others mentioned in the training, followed ethical recommendations, and considered that it was safe to intervene in the hypothetical situation. In the role of a person in psychological crisis, the participants interpreted 3 or more manifestations of a psychological crisis. The results revealed that the training had a positive impact on the acquisition of theoretical knowledge and practical skills to identify and intervene people in psychological crisis, through Psychological First Aid.

In this work, historiography is understood as the study of historical thought, that is, a kind of detailed historical-epistemological and social critical analysis of intellectual production that tells and explains the history of a specific topic or problem, in this case that of the history of Nursing in Colombia. When carrying out a review of the different works on the history of Nursing produced in Colombia, it becomes evident that they are written by professionals from different disciplines, such as Medicine, Nursing, Sociology and Anthropology. Each of these works not only bears the bias of the discipline from which it originates, but is also built from different theoretical-methodological approaches. This Historiographical study aims to elucidate these biases and approaches, as a starting point, or platform, for future research that allows, based on the contributions made by these previous works and the criticism of their theoretical-methodological positions, to build a new History of Nursing in Colombia, in depth, from more current theoretical-methodological perspectives, which allow us to overcome these perspectives, some already out of fashion and others still hegemonic in the History of Colombian Nursing.

Armed conflict in Colombia has left approximately two million boys, girls and teenagers, victim from it. This descriptive cross-section study with an analytical component defines the relation between orphanhood caused by the armed conflict and the depression indicators and behavior of Colombian boys, girls and teenagers. 378 boys, girls and teenagers, orphan by armed conflict and 680 control children and teenagers, not directly exposed to armed conflict, participated. Psychometric measures from CDS (Children’s Depression Scale) and CBCL (Child Behavior Checklist), adapted to Colombia, were applied. The results show that children and teenagers between ages 12 to 18 present higher scores in the negative affection indicators, especially in total depressive indicators (AOR 1,94, IC of 95%: 1,27-2,97) and in the lack of positive elements in joy indicators (AOR 2,54, IC of 95%: 1,57-3,80), compared to control group. For CBCL scale, the children from ages 8 to 11 show only high scores in reticence indicator (AOR 2,54, IC of 95%: 1,26-5,12); where as children and teenagers from ages 12 to 18 show high scores for global total problems indicator (AOR 1,63, IC of 95%: 1,12-2,37), and CBCL internalization indicator (AOR 1,95, IC of 95%: 1,34-2,83), compared to control group. In conclusion, significate statistic differences have been found in the studied indicators between orphan children and children non-directly exposed to armed conflict. For the above, orphan children by armed conflict must have a differential and integral attention for their retrieval.

This study sought to identify the social representations of health professionals about communication in health care for deaf people. Fifteen interviews with doctors, psychologists, and nurses were carried out, on which a text analysis was carried out from which five categories emerged: perceptions, barriers, sign language, alternatives for communication, and the deaf person. These categories made it possible to recognize the predominant social representations of health professionals regarding communication with deaf people, framed in the conception of disability from the biomedical model on which education and health care are still based today. Likewise, the importance that health professionals attribute to Colombian Sign Language (LSC) and their interest in improving their communication with the deaf community as a determinant of access to health care is highlighted.

Introduction: The decision to hospitalize a patient is largely determined by the reason for consultation and the level of decompensation of the pathology that led to the consultation. However, there are other determining factors in the decision to hospitalize patients who consult the emergency department, including sociocultural factors that have been described as possible influencing this decision. Diabetes mellitus, specifically type 2, is a condition caused by multiple causes, where the social determinants of health, such as income and education levels, occupation, accessibility to health services, physical inactivity, gender and the family support network are closely related and play a relevant role in the development of type 2 diabetes mellitus as a social disease (1) This study aims toidentify sociocultural factors associated with the decision to hospitalize in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM2) who consult the emergency room of a IV level Health Service Provider Institution (IPS) in Bogotá, in order to contribute to the development of applicable intervention measures to reduce hospitalization rates and contribute to the control of this pathology. Methods: A prospective cross-sectional observational study with an analyticalcomponent. Patients with a diagnosis of type 2 DM who consult the emergency department of afourth level of care IPS will be included. The database will be built in Excel and the analysis will be carried out with the statistical program SPSS v. 24. The clinical and sociocultural characteristics of patients who consult the emergency department and are discharged within 24 hours of admission will be compared with patients who are admitted and hospitalized for more than 24 hours by means of bivariate analysis. To evaluate possible covariates that may affect this association, a logistic regression model will be used. Results: The analysis of 70 patients is presented, 59% female. No statistically significant association was found between sociocultural factors and an increase in glycated hemoglobin or glycemia. Adherente to treatment is presented as a protective factor in the logistic regression model. Conclussion: We concluded that there were no statistically significant association between glycosylated hemoglobin and sociocultural factors, only the treatment adherence.

Benavides, John Alexander
There are several studies carried out worldwide on prenatal and postnatal exposure to pesticides and their effects on neurodevelopment. However, this type of research has not been carried out in Colombia, nor there is a characterization of neuropsychiatric syndromes been carried out in schoolchildren in rural areas. Therefore, our objective was to establish the association between neuropsychiatric syndromes and exposure to pesticides (organophosphates and pyrethroids) used for agricultural purposes in the rural area of Bogotá, specifically in the Sumapaz and Usme regions. For this, a cross-sectional study was carried out. For the evaluation of the exposure, methods of detection of metabolites in urine and a survey adapted to the area were used. For the evaluation of neuropsychiatric syndromes, the ChIPS tool (interview for psychiatric syndromes in children and adolescents) was used. Binary logistic regression models were used to assess this association, adjusting for child sex, mother's educational level, growth retardation, and age, in a population of 231 boys and girls between the ages of 7 and 10 years. The main finding was that exposure to chlorpyrifos increases the risk of being diagnosed with ADHD (OR = 2.5 95% CI 0.88 – 7) and exposure to propenophos increases the risk of being diagnosed with negative defiant disorder (OR: 2.03, 95% CI: 1.06 - 3.91). This confirms an association between exposure to pesticides and the development of childhood neuropsychiatric syndromes in children from the rural areas of Sumapaz and Usme, Colombia.

Leandro Gomez, Rafael Alexander
This work compiles the results of the pilot of information gathering, analysis and monitoring of the progress of the construction and implementation of public policies for the promotion of physical activity (PA) and the reduction of sedentary behaviors in the department of Quindío. The process began with the review of different public policy documents at the local level. Additionally, an adaptation of the CAPLA-Santé instrument was carried out, which includes different dimensions or categories for the analysis of a local public policy. Based on this adapted instrument, 17 semi-structured interviews were conducted with people in charge of different sectors at the departmental level and in the municipalities of Armenia, Buenavista, Filandia, and Calarcá. Finally, the document presents the lines of work identified in local physical activity policies, followed by a series of recommendations aimed at decision-makers and those in charge of implementing actions in the hope of drawing attention to the importance of orienting and basing improvements in public policies for the promotion of PA in Colombia.

The governance implies the relationships between actors of plurality with its decision making about something collective problem, about health, it is necessary establish as governance is approached from an instrument of public policies how is the Plan Territorial de Salud. Objective. To determine the coherence between the conception and the implementation of comparative governance approach in two PTS of the city of Bogotá. Methodology. Qualitative study that used content analysis based on emerging categories in two PTS for the years 2012 to 2020, comparing them with management reports from the Comités Operativos Distritales de Infancia y Adolescencia CODIA Results. The PTS 2012-2016 contemplated a governance with an analytical approach, while in the PTS 2016-2020 it proposed a vision of normative governance. According to the established categories: the nodal points dialogue consistently between the units of analysis to obtain a governance exercise. Under the category of community participation and actors, there are opposing elements from the approach postulated in a PTS and the configuration for execution. Discussion. The normative approach embraces a hierarchical vision, constituting a decision-making from the State, unlike the analytical approach that enables the participation and decision of a multiplicity of actors. The comparison between the PTS and CODIA reports indicate coherence in some categories, however, the actors and community participation categories allow us to identify that an approach designed by the institutionalist does not dialogue with the sense of resolution of a collective problem.

The program is aimed at the health care of patients with a diagnosis of COPD, who are hospitalized at the University Hospital of San José, due to exacerbation, but outside the critical period. Its importance lies not only in the need for patient education as a fundamental tool in addressing chronic noncommunicable diseases, but also in the implementation of these in highly complex clinical-care settings. The empowerment of the patient in terms of their health condition is the basis of the program, highlighting the great contribution of the proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation physiotherapeutic strategies, for the improvement of ventilatory mechanics, therefore implementing a health education strategy for patients with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease COPD hospitalized at the University Hospital of San José HUSJ seeks to impact on the improvement of their quality of life from the pulmonary cardiovascular physiotherapeutic intervention. It is evident that the implementation of educational strategies for health promotion in spaces of high complexity are a necessity that can favor the empowerment of patients in the face of their condition and are an adjunctive tool for the improvement of symptoms and their impact on quality of life. After the intervention of the strategies proposed in the program, there is a decrease in the impact that both cough and dyspnea and the other symptoms related to COPD generate in the execution of daily life activities.

Sexual violence has been a social and public health problem worldwide, against in which governments have sought to impact and respond from the generation of public policies. However, it is not clear the effect that these policies can have on the processes of individual and collective recovery, in the face of the serious effects on the physical, psychological and social health generated by this type of violences. As a contribution to the analysis of these public policies in Colombia, the present investigation carries out a review of the topic based on the categories proposed in the model of the sociologist and mathematician Johan Galtung for the analysis of the different forms of violence, adapting the same to the case particular of sexual violence. The triangle of violence of Galtung allows us to recognize the origin and the dynamics of propagation of the violence´s phenomena, giving us account of the strategies of attention and resolution for them. In this analysis, the types of violence on which public policies in Colombia have faced this problem were addressed, integrating the gender´s perspective during the period of peace dialogues between Colombian´s government and the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia-FARC, recognizing a crucial moment in the history of the country. A documentary search of the public policies issued during that period by the Ministries of Interior, Justice and of Health and Social Protection, aimed at addressing the problem of sexual violence was conducted. Subsequently a categorical descriptive analysis was performed, identifying them according to frequency and relationship with the subject under study. The results show the value of integrating models of analysis of direct, structural and cultural violence applied to sexual violence, the inclinations of gender-related policies in the face of this type of violence and, finally, the need for education in society and especially to public policy makers in the face of peace and post-conflict processes, so that they are taken as a conceptual basis at the time of their formulation.

The concept of Mental Health has been poorly analyzed from the perspective of historical-epistemological and socio-political criticism. The different historical events that led to the development of WHO and PAHO as institutions founded in the United States, in charge of international health, determined the definition of the concept of Mental Health. This was marked by the functionalist definition of Health and the positivist model, which are based on a biologist's conception to explain and deal with health problems. This study aims to review the process of construction of this concept of Health and the derivation that from this definition is made on Mental Health, showing how these definitions are based, and employing a double approach of historical-epistemological and socio-political nature, giving elements that, in the future, contribute to the reevaluation of the concept of Mental Health, to overcome its current foundation. It is also intended to leave a theoretical-methodological platform that could serve as a basis for the construction of public mental health policies in the future.

Durán-Torres, Felipe
Objective: Determine the proportion of patients and households that experience catastrophic costs due to tuberculosis. Methods: Systematic review in three databases and additional sources between January 2009 and October 2020. Catastrophic costs were analyzed under the threshold of ≥20% of the annual household income of a person affected by tuberculosis. Results: 7487 articles and 19 additional publications were identified. After screening and eligibility review, 40 articles were included in the qualitative synthesis and none in the quantitative synthesis. The articles included came from 25 countries, most of Asia and Africa. High heterogeneity was found in the results. The percentage of catastrophic costs ranged between 4% and 83%. However, this percentage was up to 100% when the analysis was specific for resistant tuberculosis. Conclusions: Regardless of the heterogeneity of the included studies, a significant percentage of patients with tuberculosis face catastrophic costs. A higher percentage of patients and households face catastrophic costs when there is co-infection with HIV or resistant tuberculosis. Active detection can have a favorable effect on the costs faced by patients.

Cognitive or intellectual disability encompasses the most general category of neurodevelopmental disorders, and is defined as a group of conditions that begin early in development, generally before the start of school, and that are characterized by a deficit that causes difficulties. personal-social academic or occupational functioning. The ICF International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health aims to establish a standard and international framework and language to describe health and the dimensions related to it. It consists of three essential components; The first of them, body functions and structures, has to do with physiological/psychological functions and anatomical elements, and it is their absence or alteration that we conceive as deficiencies in functions and structures. The second component, the activity, refers to the individual execution of tasks and the difficulties that a person has to carry them out are the limitations. The third component, participation, refers to the development of social situations and the problems that the individual experiences in such development constitute the restrictions. Characterize, classify and encourage certification in accordance with the CIF, to members of the Corporación Transición Es Crecer, in a condition of cognitive disability, provides information on the diagnosis allowing for an approach focused on functioning and functionality individually, as well as on the impact of the disability, allowing each case to be differentiated in a particular way .. Using a semi-structured interview, the functions and structures related to vision, hearing, body perception, voice and speech, neurovascular system, central nervous system, and mental functions were assessed according to the ICF components. Likewise, with a semi-structured interview, the family was discussed with resolution 113 of 2020 and the disability certification in accordance with it. Among the results, it stands out that 64.8% of the members of the TransitionEs Crecer corporation are male, 35.1% are female; 78.3% were born in the city of Bogotá, and 21.7% in different cities of Colombia Regarding personal medical history, the members of the corporation have related syndromatic diagnoses in 54.05% of which the most frequent is the autism spectrum followed by Down syndrome, 75.6% of the members have visual alterations, of which 39.2% have mixed alterations, referring to the presence of two alterations and 7.14% have even more fingers. On the other hand, 45.94% use medicated glasses. 40.5% reported having some alteration in hearing; without cases where the commitment is mixed. The 37 interviewed members refer alteration in mental functions, with association of more than one; the most frequent is the difficulty for complex tasks which is present in 83.7% of the members; followed by the difficulty to perform calculations, as well as to maintain attention and concentrate which are present in 75.67% of the members. 94.5% did not have disability certification according to resolution 113/2020; and only 10.3% have started the process to obtain it. The most frequent reason for not having or not having started the certification process is ignorance of the existence of this document in 83.7% of cases, added to ignorance of the route to obtain it.

Objective: National Implementation of the Manual for Preconception Care and Family Planning, in the context of specialized gynecology consultation, preconception counseling, and family planning counseling, to guarantee a comprehensive diagnostic and / or therapeutic approach and thus reduce morbidity and mortality rates. secondary schools, allowing also to offer individual education aimed at said morbidity and to guide the user, companions and / or caregivers, on the care required for the recovery of health conditions and sexual and reproductive rights. Scope: This Manual is constituted for the care of users from 10 to 50 years old, affiliated with EPS Sanitas, with the presence of any morbidity condition, with an emphasis on carrying out a diagnostic and / or therapeutic approach, in addition to solving The own needs in family planning, in the field of external consultation of the Medical Centers (MC) of Primary Care of EPS Sanitas at the national level, includes the guidelines for their comprehensive care. For its development, a comprehensive approach is provided by different health professionals that include: gynecologist, family doctor and general practitioner with training in family planning and head nurse, in charge of the family planning consultation; at the scheduled consultation. With this approach, the patient receives personalized attention, there is better follow-up and adherence that results in a better quality of life for her and her environment. Results: • It seeks to increase the coverage of the insured population with the information available on the different family planning methods available in the Health Benefits Plan (HBP). • Standardization of the care process for preconception counseling and family planning consultations. • Greater knowledge of women regarding the benefits of a planned pregnancy, possible risks of an unplanned pregnancy and its prevention. • Prevention of pregnancy in adolescent women. • Reduce barriers in the care of patients who attend by requesting advice from family planning and preconception. • Optimization of the state of health at the time of pregnancy, generating a culture of preparation for it. • Greater knowledge of sexual and reproductive rights by users by EPS Sanitas. Conclusions: • The strategy aims to reach the entire female population of childbearing age in the EPS, carrying out educational intervention on sexual rights and reproductive rights, family planning methods and benefits of planned pregnancy, and providing planning methods or micronutrients, to reduce perinatal maternal morbidity and mortality. • This approach aims to reach the population to increase the demand induced in access to family planning methods and counseling for planning a pregnancy. • Offering educational tools for a woman to make the decision to plan a pregnancy or postpone it, it achieves an optimization of her state of health, which also translates into a better distribution of resources to those women who seek to become pregnant. • From my experience with the internship process, I can conclude that in order to intervene from Primary Health Care (PHC) the problems that an unwanted pregnancy can bring and generate a culture of pregnancy planning and adherence to sexual rights and reproductive, requires a huge effort to include methodologies, technological innovation tools, concentration and training of human talent in health. Overcoming and educating in myths, clarifying doubts both to the officials of the insurer and to the patients, their partners and those responsible is a process that will show long-term results. Therefore, the activities of implementation, execution and articulation with the different components of the Comprehensive Health Care Routes (RIAS), should be approached from a multidisciplinary point of view aimed at identifying risk groups, and from these, making the recruitment of patients who will represent the most complications (health burden, health expenditure, health indicators), since, as we will see later, there is no single activity that can solve all the existing problems in the area of sexual rights and reproductive. • This strategy, within EPS Sanitas, can be considered as the backbone to generate a sexual and reproductive health program, which is articulated with the different components of the comprehensive health care routes (from Spanish RIAS) since the proportion of patients or users of the same, groups a large population within the insured universe (women of childbearing age).

This document presents the results of the internship work carried out in the Occupational Hazards Subdirectorate of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection with the aim of consolidating and evaluating the actions carried out by the territorial Health entities (departmental, district and municipalities) in the informal working population, in compliance with the objectives and goals defined in the Ten-Year Public Health Plan 2012-2021, using for this the methodology contemplated in the Practical Guide for the design and performance of evaluations of public policies AEVAL Approach . As a result, actions mainly related to the promotion of health insurance and promotion that are not contextualized to the problems, realities, particularities and precariousness of this population could be evidenced. The actions are limited to narrating activities that account for the management carried out and do not allow the fulfillment of the objective of achieving the well-being and protection of the workers' health. Therefore, it is imperative to develop a new policy that focuses on the impacts on the health of workers related to work that incorporates the approaches of: social determinants of health, the differential approach and the recognition of the vulnerability of this population as a consequence of being in the informal economy.

Durán-Torres, Felipe
Objective. Establish if there is an association between reporting intimate partner violence and contraception in Colombian women. Material and Methods. Transversal study, based on the Demographic and Health Survey of 2015. Three models of binary logistic regression were adjusted. Results Women that have not been intimate partner violence victims (OR 0.749, IC95% 0.687-0.816), Physical aggression (OR 0.870, IC95% 0.803-0.943) and psychological violence (OR 0.752, IC95% 0.691-0.819) have more probability of using a contraceptive method than women that were victims of one of these kind of maltreatments. There were no differences regarding the use of contraceptive methods in women that are victims of sexual abuse. Conclusions Suggestions to the wording of interventions with multidisciplinary approaches are purposed to guarantee the exercise of sexual and reproductive rights.

Ischemic stroke (iCVA) is a disease with a high impact on morbimortality. In Colombia, access to mechanical thrombectomy (MT) is inequitable and reserved to few centers, an alternative is to perform the intervention through interhospital referral under public-private partnerships, however, information on its real impact on health outcomes, such as disability-adjusted life years (DALYs), has not been described.

Duperly, John
Introduction: Sedentary lifestyle is an important cause in the development of chronic non-transmissible diseases. There are sociodemographic variables, as well as lifestyles and a series of barriers that influence/ affect the practice of physical activity in medical students. Objectives: Determine the factors that influence the practice of physical activity in students who enter a medical school between the years 2011 to 2017. Materials and methods: A descriptive cross-sectional study with 700 students was taken, a questionnaire was applied that is part of a project called Healthy Doctor - Healthy Patient; The questions related to sociodemographic data, physical activity, and habits. Logistic regression analyzes were used to evaluate the associations between physical activity, sociodemographic variables, and student habits. Results: 55. 7% of the students were sedentary. Physically active students performed an average of 157 minutes / week of moderate physical activity (OR = 2. 55, CI = 1. 80 - 3. 62) and 64 minutes / week of vigorous physical activity (OR = 5. 98; = 3. 88 - 9. 20). The statistical analyzes showed that the students identified the lack of skills (OR = 8. 44, CI = 5. 35 - 13. 32) and the lack of time (OR = 3. 49, CI = 2. 47 - 4. 93). as the main barriers when it comes to physical activity. Students from high socioeconomic status tended to be more active (OR = 1. 866, CI = 1. 37-2. 52). Conclusions: There is a strong relationship between the barriers perceived by students and sedentary lifestyle. Medical schools should include in their curricula the promotion of healthy lifestyles.

Weaving the trauma: its genealogy in the context of war and human suffering
Restrepo-Espinosa, Maria Helena
‘Technical objects,’ including war neuroses (shell shock, hysteria and neurasthenia) and post-traumatic stress disorder, are considered to emerge from historical and cultural practices within the field of medicine, rather than representing epistemological developments. These objects have been intertwined with disciplines such as surgery, neurology, psychoanalysis, and psychiatry, constituting a complex cobweb of trauma and warfare in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. In addition, these objects emerged from clinical and experimental experiences oriented towards the understanding of human pain and social suffering derived from warfare. Researchers have often been unable to go beyond a medical stance and its limitations in terms of understanding human pain and collective suffering. Interestingly, the discovery of memory and its relationships with fear, shame, guilt, and trauma, became additional threads of the cobweb, with trauma occupying a central position. Trauma encompasses multiple meanings, connections, and disagreements, constituting a unique signifier for a plurality of types of suffering and illness. Its objective is to trace the trajectory and problematize the notion of trauma and the relationship with human suffering derived from war through historical constructions in the field of medical discipline and practice. The approach adopted in this work follows the emergence of a range of technical objects: shell shock, hysteria and neurasthenia. Secondly, a review of other notions related to the experience of human suffering is included. The third section discusses some of the effects of shell shock, hysteria and neurasthenia. Finally, the concluding paragraphs present relevant reflections for medicine and public health related to the often-unquestioned effects of current uses of PTSD.

In order to measure the impact that the program created by the foundation The Mathilde Institute in Guatemala has had from 2012 to 2019 with the creation of a nutritional formula called Chispuditos, a descriptive study of the evolution of the Mass Index was carried out. Corporal for children operated between 1 year and 5 years of age. A sample of 6892 children who had participated in the program was taken, from these a subsample was taken of those who had had a control 3 or 4 months after the initial intake, 8 or 9 months and 12 or 13 months from the initial shot. Based on this, the trend was evaluated by means of confidence intervals towards the 50th percentile of the BMI control table of the World Health Organization, after this based on the average income for the urban and rural population of Guatemala, a simple regression was used to measure the relationship of the change in the child's BMI with respect to income. The results showed how as the time of consumption of the formula increases, the weight of the children adjusts to the normal level and at the moment in which their weight is regulated, it begins to have a positive relationship with the income variable, which shows that In the long term, the adequate nutritional status of the child will translate into an improvement in their quality of life.

This thesis is part of the research line of Social Health Studies of the Master of Public Health, within the Program of Comparative Health Studies of the Research Group of Sciences, Technologies and Health Professions (GESCTP) of the Universidad del Rosario; Its fundamental purpose is to carry out a historical-comparative and transnational study of international agendas and reforms health services in Colombia and Brazil. The identification and critique of historical events related to the establishment and organization of health services in populations allows the understanding of the routes established by each country; therefore, the analysis focuses on the international agendas and the particularities of the health reform processes implemented in Colombia and Brazil from 1950 to the present in the framework of the construction of States. The aim is to characterize, understand and explain, from a transnational comparative perspective, the existing relationships between social actors and international agendas in the construction and institutionalization of health services. It is not a secret that the dynamics among the political, economic, social and military processes have an impact on the health sector; Therefore, for this investigation it is important to emphasize that the State is not only analyzed as a mechanism for organizing countries, but as a socio-political actor and as a powerhouse that is governed by control mechanisms. By virtue of this, the investigation is divided into four chapters: the first one corresponds to the explanation about the generalities and transformations around social protection, the welfare state and the regimes of accumulation; the second chapter, presents the historical analysis of the particular conditions of Colombia and Brazil in the organization race of these countries to become developed states and their subsequent transformation towards neoliberal states; the third chapter, aims to characterize socio-political actors and analyze the "social field" intrinsic to each nation emphasizing in the particularities, to finish in a fourth chapter that contrasts the current organization in each country with the proposal of the author and the conclusions.

Prisons and jails have major structural challenges such as overcrowding, unsanitary conditions, consumption of psychoactive substances, lack of human rights guarantees, among others, which with the Covid-19 pandemic worsened both for the Persons Deprived of Liberty [PPL] and for the officials who provide their services in prisons. All these challenges have been faced with continuous learning and it is of interest to the scientific and academic community to recognize the experiences so that they remain in the memory of Public Health risk management. Therefore, this documentary review aims to understand the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic on the structure and functioning of prison health in Colombia, describing the experiences during the Covid-19 pandemic, identifying the strategies implemented to contain the Covid-19 infection and mortality inside prisons and evidencing the legal contingency measures exercised during the pandemic by the Penitentiary and Prison System in Colombia.

Background: Cancer is one of the leading causes of mortality worldwide. Despite advances in early detection, in low- and middle-income countries, barriers persist that lead to diagnostic confirmation in advanced stages. In Colombia, one of the geographical areas with the highest cancer mortality rates is the department of Cundinamarca. Objective: Characterize the barriers and facilitators of access to early cancer diagnosis, from the perspective of patients and their caregivers in public health service networks in the department of Cundinamarca, Colombia. Methods: Qualitative, descriptive-interpretative study, based on a phenomenological approach. 17 semi-structured interviews were conducted with patients over 18 years of age, with a confirmed cancer diagnosis in the last year, treated in institutions that provide public health services in the Sabana Centro, Sur and Soacha de Cundinamarca Health Regions. A thematic analysis of the content of the interviews was carried out. Results: In the identification of symptoms and the search for care, barriers related to the socioeconomic and cultural characteristics of the patients stand out, which influence the late search for care. In access to low complexity, barriers related to professionals predominate, such as dismissal of symptoms and late referral to specialists, while, from the characteristics of the Health System, the delimitation of benefits by levels of complexity stands out, which limit the resolution capacity of the general practitioner. The geographical barriers associated with the area of residence of the patients is another limitation of access to low complexity. In accessing medium and high complexity, the barriers imposed by insurers stand out, mainly the existence of procedures and delays in the authorization of diagnostic tests and appointments with specialists, short duration of contracts with providers, as well as the purchase fragmented and outside the territory of residence of the patient. Regarding the providers, the deficit of specialists and the delays in assigning appointments stand out. These difficulties are magnified in patients who live in rural areas, who have economic difficulties and are in charge of the care of third parties, mostly women. Finally, once the patient is referred to oncology providers, it stands out as facilitators, at the organizational level, in one of the cases, the existence of a professional who acts as a liaison in communication with insurers and other providers, which that favored the reduction of paperwork and the assignment of appointments for the start of treatment and from the health professionals, the interest in the health conditions of the patient. Conclusions: The results of the study reflect the existence of multiple barriers from the search for care to the diagnostic confirmation of cancer. While in low complexity the inherent failures of professionals and the health system stand out, it is in access to medium and high complexity services where the greatest problems are concentrated, which are associated with the barriers imposed by insurers, the organizational characteristics of the services and the socioeconomic conditions of the population, which as a whole lead to late diagnoses of cancer.

This document is the result of the work carried out as part of our internship at McMaster University, in Canada, during which I had the opportunity to delve into the complex situation that many migrants must go through in search of better conditions and the diseases that can affect them in the premigratory and migratory phase. Health care for migrants is a right and must also be timely and easily obtained. In order to maintain the health of this population, coordination by the municipal, departmental, and central governments is essential, as well as the provision of means for the prevention and management of diseases in this population.

Adriana Paola, Ballen Charris
The Government of Cundinamarca established through its 2020-2024 development plan "Cundinamarca Region that Progresses" the attention for the LGBTIQ + population reflected in the program "Cundinamarca without stereotypes" and the subprogram "Cundinamarca diversa" which provides as a goal of well-being "to reach 100% of the LGBTIQ + population benefited with strategies that dignify their identity", A goal led by the Ministry of Development and Social Inclusion, however, the Ministry of Health, which is a transversal part in the care and guarantee of the rights of the people of Cundinamarca, identified the gap in differentiated health care for this population. In consideration, through the realization of this internship from the Ministry of Health of the Government, it was sought to strengthen the qualified institutional capacity and take actions aimed at mitigating and modifying possible negative behaviors and attitudes in the entities providing health services in the territory of Cundinamarca towards the LGBTIQ + population, through the construction of a guideline that contributes to the appropriation of national regulations in health care with a rights, differential and gender approach for this population, contributing to the generation of effective, humanized, dignified and respectful care in the entities providing public and private health services in the territory. The methodology used for the development of this guideline was a bibliographic review: where an investigation of current national and international regulations applicable to Colombia and academic documents that considered the approaches indicated was carried out; After the analysis and synthesis of these documents, it was socialized with the Population Leader and Leader of the Public Health Directorate of the Government for contributions, approval and finally preparation and construction of the final document, which was again socialized and formally delivered to the senior management of the Ministry of Health, for subsequent internal dissemination processing.

Language From and For Diversity is a proposal that was born in order to build together with a group of community mothers in charge of a conglomerate of early childhood children, who are part of the project Healthy, Inclusive and Diverse in the El Codito Sector, Eastern Hills of the UPZ 9 (Verbenal), Usaquén Town ”, communication and learning strategies and tools suitable for the implementation of recreational-practical activities with a diversity theme. The foregoing is worked from the identification of the importance of diversity in the social development of communities and how it affects the settings of culture, education, health, politics, among others, which are considered essential to live in society, in addition to deepening topics such as language, language development and communication, which will be the tools and strategies that are intended to be co-constructed in the community mothers so that they can meet the proposed objectives. Community mothers, when approaching diversity from communication and learning strategies and tools, managed to identify it as a fundamental pillar of society that must be worked on from early childhood. In addition, the structuring of recreational-practical activities is achieved where key elements are used, which facilitate their development, complying with the objectives proposed by the proposal; Likewise, it is possible to make the participants aware of the importance of the intention and content of the message in the speech to generate the change that is expected in early childhood children. This proposal being directly related to the project is coupled with its methodology, which is based on participatory action research, which means that community mothers, as active agents from their knowledge, constructs and knowledge, will generate and develop the proposal, fulfilling in this way with the objective of building playful-practical activities, from the recognition and use of adequate communication strategies and tools for early childhood education with a diversity theme. Finally, the community mothers, in addition to understanding the importance of diversity, recognized and co-built skills and strategies that facilitated the creation, design and planning of recreational-practical activities that worked with children in early childhood, in addition to generating a Bank of activities in which the constancy of the activities, strategies and tools that they intended to use at the time of implementing the pertinent actions was evidenced.

Varona Uribe, Marcela Eugenia
Hernández Herrera, Gilma Norela
Introduction: Currently in Colombia, agricultural and mining activities are a source of contamination by heavy metals. The municipality of Montelíbano, Córdoba is characterized by the exploitation of nickel, since one of the deposits of this metal is located. Agricultural activities are carried out, Arsenic can be involved. In Colombia, there is little evidence regarding the exposure of these heavy metals and the interactions between these substances. Objective: To determine the exposure to arsenic and nickel, the levels in environmental matrices and the association with some related factors, Montelíbano, Córdoba. 2021. Materials and methods: Descriptive cross-sectional study with non-probabilistic sampling of 100 individuals. 63 occupationally exposed and 36 environmentally exposed. Biological (hair) and environmental (water and fish) samples to measure nickel and arsenic levels. Results: 95.24% of the occupationally exposed people were men, 63.89% of the environmentally exposed people were men. 63% had a trade, 90.48% worked in mining and 9.52% were farmers. The majority of the population did not reside in industrial zones. The median age of the occupationally exposed persons was 54 years, the median of the environmentally exposed persons was 59.50 years. 41.27% of occupationally exposed people ate food while working and did so daily. 77.78% of the occupationally exposed wear gloves and 68.25% wear a respirator. 80.95% of the occupationally exposed used leather boots. Most of the population consumed tap and filter water. The most consumed fish was the Bocachico 1 to 2 times a week. Nickel and arsenic concentrations in hair are above the reference value (both populations). Statistical analyzes and correlations between metal levels in hair, sociodemographic and occupational variables are presented. The presence of arsenic and the use of personal protection elements influence nickel concentrations in hair. A slight but significant correlation is found between the levels of nickel and arsenic. Conclusion: In the study area there is environmental and occupational exposure to mixtures of heavy metals, directly to Nickel and indirectly to Arsenic. It is recommended to carry out studies that allow solving the evidenced limitations and delve into the biomonitoring of mixtures of metals and chemical substances, and thus obtain information, and an overview regarding this problem not only in this municipality in particular, but in the country.

Until the end of XIX century, in Colombia, birth attendance was an exclusive female responsibility. Since XX century, the increase in hospitalization for birth attendance leads to the medicalisation process, involving the positioning of gynecological-obstetrics as exclusive dominion and limiting in turn the nursing inclusion. Therefore, the doctor-nurse relation has been interfered with by roles distinction, superiority perception, limitation of functions and the no specialization on obstetrics nursing. Objective: Describing the nursing role at low risk birth attendance in Colombia through obstetrician-gynecologist and nursing professionals’ social representations. Method: qualitative research of phenomenological approach of a descriptive nature addressing the Social Representations Theory by Serge Moscovici. Results: four categories were identified in which the main nursing and gynecological-obstetrics representations are described with regard to the birth attendance by nursing in Colombia, identifying advances, deficiencies, roles between professions, body of knowledge and current necessities to implement a new obstetric care model in Colombia. Conclusions: research showed that the nursing role at birth attendance in Colombia has been limited by processes as medicalisation, hierarchization between professions, political ideologies, cultural practices, loss of autonomy in nursing and lack of knowledge and expertise in the area. Likewise, a gap in the professional nursing training in obstetrics was described, as well as, acknowledging the necessity of implementing a new obstetric care model in the country.

Introduction: maternal mortality is a widely used indicator to measure the health inequality of a population, especially in the care related to the mother and child binomial. In Colombia, in general, aspects related to the clinical and individual risk factors of pregnant women who have died have been studied, however, the analysis of the impact of premature death of a pregnant woman has not been investigated in the country. Objective: calculate the years of life potentially lost for the causes of maternal mortality and establish the trend of this event between 2010 and 2015 in Colombia. Methodology: retrospective descriptive study. From the official records of early maternal mortality of the National Department of Statistics of Colombia from 2010 - 2015, we calculate the ratio of maternal death and the years of life potentially lost to each social, demographic and basic cause of death analyzed. The statistical significance of trends and differences between periods was assessed by means of an independent proportions test. The data was stored and processed in IBM® SPSS® Statistics version 24.0, Epidat version 4.2 and Arcgis Desktop version 10.4. Results: Maternal death decreased significantly, from 67.99 cases per 100,000 live births in 2010-12 to 53.68 in 2013-15. There were 784,177 years of life potentially lost per 100,000 women of childbearing age. The reason for maternal death among women who did not receive formal education was 7 to 10 times more than those who had a tertiary education, for indigenous and palenqueras women were almost 4 and 6 times higher than those reported in mestizo women. The cases resident in rural areas were almost twice as many as those who died in the urban capital. Direct maternal death was the main cause of potentially lost years of life. Discussion and conclusion: life years potentially lost in middle-aged women with direct obstetric complications contribute disproportionately to the social and economic burden of premature mortality in Colombia. Despite the country's progress in reducing this indicator, interventions in health and public policies are urgently required to meet the ambitious Sustainable Development Goals by 2030.

Durán-Torres, Felipe
Introduction: There is little scientific evidence in relation to the neuropsychological effects of electronic systems for the administration of nicotine and the like without nicotine, which generates a gap in knowledge, hindering the implementation of public policies that establish regulations, control and surveillance around this type of psychoactive substance. The objective of this study is to review the effects between the use of ENDS on the neuropsychological aspect of consumers. Materials and methods: Systematic search in Medine, Lilacs, Web of Science, Cochrane Central and Clinical trials databases, including studies published between 2003 and September 2020, observational or experimental, without limitation by language. The first screening was based on the abstracts, taking the selection criteria as a reference. Once the possible publications had been selected, each researcher reviewed the full text of each article, applying the eligibility criteria. Results: 30 studies were included. Studies with a deleterious effect were found in four domains (sleep, attention, cognitive functions and perception of weight) after the use of SEAN / SSSN and studies of improvement in the perception of taste and smell compared to conventional cigarettes. Some of the studied domains lack statistically significant differences compared to conventional cigarettes. Conclusions: There are beneficial effects such as the perception of taste, smell, sleep and memory in comparison with the conventional cigarette. In contrast, the weight perception and attention domains are classified as possible risk effects. The variable executive functions and body image show versatility in their results, so it is not possible to suggest a safety of the device. This study can serve as a starting point to promote quantitative studies that allow data to be extrapolated for decision-making in public health.

Objective: Describe what has been the progress of the right to health, of people with disabilities in Colombia and other countries in Latin América. Method: In this study, a scope review was carried out of the available documents that cover the situation of the right to health in the population with disabilities in Latin America, published between 2010 and 2020, and excluding any document that contemplated geographical areas different from Latin America and that include other rights other than the right to health. Results: From the review it is obtained that there is a marked heterogeneity in the conception and approach of the documentation that addresses the right to health in the population with disabilities, this in part due to its conception, which still continues to have a biomedical approach and leaves aside the biopsychosocial approach.

PROGRAMA FIAMCU
Casallas Murillo, Ana Lucía
The demographic change worldwide has implied an accelerated increase, even doubling in some countries, having a global population of older adults, which has gone from 11% beginning the 21st century, to 22% projected by 2050. Colombia has projected that by 2020 it will have a total population of 49,834,240 inhabitants, of which 5,970,956 (11%) will be over 59 years old, age considered the beginning of the stage as an older adult. Given these demographic changes, there is a need to carry out approaches from public health to increase the physical and mental well-being of elderly populations, especially those who are located in nursing homes. The program presented below was designed and developed with the purpose of mitigating the sedentary lifestyle of older adults of the Santa Librada Geriatric Home in the municipality of Guaduas Cundinamarca and improving the general well-being of older adults with physical activity, environmental improvement in the municipality, and increase the work done by students with the elderly in the nursing home, seeking to contribute to the reduction of generational gaps.

Globally, traditional breastfeeding practices are of vital importance to indigenous women, families and their communities. Unfortunately, in the case of the Inuit community in Canada, the acquisition of knowledge about breastfeeding and cultural traditions carried out by Inuit women has been affected by the impact of colonization, the disappearance of matriarchy, residential schooling and the interruption of the transmission of knowledge from generation to generation. In addition to the effects of colonialism, there are certain determinants such as geographical position, culture, linguistic differences, few employment opportunities, difficult access to nutritious food, inadequate access to health services, family composition, and low level of education; that have altered the initiation and continuation of breastfeeding in these ethnic groups. Respect for ancestral traditions and recognition of the particular determinants that affect breastfeeding in women belonging to these communities could contribute to establishing recommendations and programs that improve the initiation and continuation of breastfeeding in these population groups.

The research consists of analyze the information collected and systematized by the Health Secretary of Bogotá (SDS) through the Epidemiological Surveillance of the abuse of Psychoactive Substances (VESPA) since 2016, with the purpose determine the prevalence of consumption of PSA (Psychoactive substances), particularly basuco, taking into account the socioeconomic factors that influence a person to reach recurrent or frequent consumption (abuse) of the substance. The approach of the study is quantitative, it was carried out through a cross-sectional study, observational, descriptive and confirmatory. Descriptive, exploratory and inferential analyzes were implemented as a methodological alternative that would allow reviewing, analyzing and obtaining the results of the information extracted from the VESPA database, where it was possible to find all consumers between 17 and 21 years old treated for abusive consumption of PSA between 2017 and 2018. The study constitutes a contribution to public health because in recent years in Colombia the number of consumers among young people has grown, generating negative health effects, taking into account that this situation does not discriminate against sex, age or socioeconomic status, and on the contrary, it affects the social environment in which a person finds himself, since it contributes to scenarios of violence, unemployment and lack of education. Due to the above, it is worth exploring which socioeconomic conditions and factors contribute to these problems, since there are no recent studies that show a similar exploration and the prevalence of PSA consumption in Bogotá.

Objective: To explore the literature about the effect of interprofessional education on the work environment of healthcare workers. Methodology: A scoping review was conducted with 407 articles from different scientific approaches. Twenty-one articles were chosen to be part of the scoping review as they met the inclusion criteria. Results: 21 articles were chosen to study the existing scientific research on the topic. Studies described a population that included doctors, nurses, psychologists, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, social workers and other professions. Context scenarios encompassed hospitals related and not to academic fields, mental health hospitals and community settings. Several positive effects were found on organizational climate and culture. However, effects on satisfaction and commitment were ambivalent.

This paper analyzes the first stage of the process of construction and institutionalization of Physiotherapy in Colombia, within the framework of US policies in the economic, political, social and health field, as well as the influence of local actors and institutions related to political policies, between the years 1930-1954. During the period between 1930-1954, Colombia was influenced by international political agents, especially Americans, in its process of transformation from an agro-exporting state to a developing state that begins to gradually become industrial. In effect, this process was especially promoted by the United States, within the framework of policies developed and oriented towards the defense of Pan-Americanism and the anti-communist struggle. These policies favored, among many other things, the transformations in the fields of public health and medical education, but also, in Physiotherapy. In this context, the repeated polio epidemics occurred in the country during this period (Bogotá 76 and 38 cases in 1930 and 1939 respectively, Cúcuta 30 cases in 1936, Cali 179 cases in 1939, Medellín 19 cases in 1940, among others) ( Malagón-Castro, 1984), as well as the motor sequels left by them, stimulated the organization of specialized medical associations, philanthropic projects promoted by businessmen, and political actions, in order to face the aftermath.
