Resumen
Determinar el efecto de la cirugía laparoscópica versus cirugía abierta sobre la supervivencia en el manejo de pacientes del cáncer colorectal.
Abstract
Background Colorectal cancer is one of the most common types of cancer worldwide. It has raised the use of laparoscopic surgery as an alternative in treatment, however there are concerns about its effect on mortality. Objective To determine the effect of laparoscopic surgery versus open surgery on survival in the management of colorectal cancer patients. Methods We performed a systematic review of the. The search was conducted through PubMed, Embase, Lilacs, Cochrane library and registration of clinical trials data. A qualitative and quantitative analysis was performed. Results We included a total of 24 studies. Laparoscopic surgery was not associated with increased mortality (RR 0.94 95% CI 0.8, 1.11) or greater tumor recurrence (RR 0.74 95% CI 0.40, 1.37).) Compared with open surgery. Laparoscopic surgery reduces the need for blood transfusions and hospitalization time. Conclusion Laparoscopic surgery shows similar results in terms of mortality and tumor recurrence compared with open surgery. Hospitalization time and transfusion requirements are lower in laparoscopic surgery which is higher than open surgery.
