| spa |
dc.description.abstract | The main goal of this case study is to identify the assumptions and logical sequence of the War on Terror strategic narrative embedded in First Person Shooter videogames produced after the 9/11 terrorist attacks. A qualitative analysis of the counterterrorist narrative content and the storytelling of the chosen videogames will be undertaken, using the theory on narrative of Tzvetan Todorov and the five vectors of Kenneth Burke to understand the attributing of motives for human actions. The aim is to reveal how these digital products reproduce the narrative structure of the global fight against terrorism and embed elements such as the signalling of an inimical terrorist threat, a representation of the dichotomy of good and evil defined by opposition, the justification of war and, lastly, projections of victory. | eng |
