| spa |
dc.description.abstract | This literary review aims to analyze the relationship between loneliness and dementia. The databases Scopus and Web of Science were used as main sources additional articles referenced in texts found in the initial search were also admitted. In the systematic search were found 18 quantitative articles that found that loneliness is a factor of risk (RF) that increases the chances of suffering from mild cognitive impairment (MCI) or suffer from dementia, and four qualitative studies that focused on dementia and how it affects the people of the third age who end up losing their cognitive functions, that allow them to communicate and interact with others, making them isolated and lonely. Finally, it is relevant to note that quantitative were not found, either by lack of tools or formats for collecting information, which are simple to understand for people suffering the early stages of this syndrome. Also, one must take into account the case of Latin America, where studies are not presented in reference to the two-way relationship between loneliness and dementia. | eng |
