abstract = {The aim of this project is to analyze the effects of increasing imports of potatoes from the United States on the income of potato farmers in the cundiboyacense region, and therefore the social and economic impact that they generate. Due to trade opening and new free trade agreements that have taken effect recently in Colombia, many subsectors of Colombian economy have been affected by the lack of the competitiveness of domestic products against imports. In the case of the potato subsector, potato imports from the United States have increased significantly since the NAFTA came into force in 2012. As a result of this, the consumption and sales of national potatoes decreased considerably, which concern of farmers who are dedicated to the cultivation of the tuber. },
