abstract = {This paper analyzes the main progresses in terms of health coverage, health
services demand and health status perception in Colombia through the Quality of
Life Surveys of 1997 and 2003. We found an increase in the coverage where the
subsidized regime presented the greatest raise. Even so, it exists a large proportion
that is not insured. There is an increase in the prevention for 2003 and a decrease in
the demand for outpatient services because lack of money. The hospitalization rate
and the respective expenditure also show a reduction. The analysis also illustrates a
small improve in the self-reported health status. In general, affiliation, demand for
health services and self-reported health status differ between regions, labor segment
and income quintiles.},
