abstract = {This research aims to explore the effects of religious charismatic leadership on the
electoral performance and survival of the political movement MIRA in Colombia. To do
this, it employs a qualitative methodology which mainly uses depth interviews and nonparticipant
observation, in order to approach to religious practices and political attitudes
of the faithful of the Church of God Ministry of Jesus Christ International. From this, it
aims to show that there is a relationship between the size of the religious congregation and
the number of votes obtained by the MIRA movement. This, thanks to that the role played
by Maria Luisa Piraquive within her religious community contributes to the legitimization
of the actions of the political movement and to the rising of an active volunteering within
this, that behaves in a discipline and committed way with the goals of this political
organization.},
