Given that there is a deficiency of green areas in Latino American cities and there are no studies in Bogotá measruing the relationship between green areas and citizen well-being. This study´s objective was to lay dawn the correlation between the size of the green areas within 500 meters of a citizen’s residences and their level of well-being. To these ends we used a Landsat 8, 2014 image and the normalized vegetation index to identify green areas in Bogotá. Subsequently, we used the Encuesta Bienal de la Secretaria de Cultura, Recreación y Deporte to find the size of the Green areas. Finally, we used a Chi Square and Spearman correlation and a multiple correspondence analysis to statistically determine the relationship between demographic, well-being variables and green area. We found that there is a relationship between education, socioeconomic strata, and well-being variables with green area. Low socioeconomic strata and low educational level presented the smallest area of green and the lowest well-being. Conversely, people of the highest social strata presented the largest green areas and the highest values of well-being.}, keywords = {NDVI}, keywords = {Landsat}, keywords = {áreas verdes}, keywords = {bienestar}, title = {Influencia de las áreas verdes en el bienestar de los ciudadanos en Bogotá, Colombia}, publisher = {Universidad del Rosario}, keywords = {NDVI}, keywords = {Landsat}, keywords = {green areas}, keywords = {well-being}, }
