She was the first female journalist from Cali and one of the first from Colombia. She published her first note in 1929 and, decades after the trial of her husband Jorge Zawadzky, she became one of the most important suffragist leaders in Valle del Cauca. She shared with Frida Kahlo and León Trotsky in Mexico, in addition to accompanying the poet Porfirio Barba Jacob in her last days. She participated in the board for the construction of the San Isidro psychiatric hospital and was president of the National Press Commission, in addition to being the director of the Valle del Cauca Cultural Extension Fund.
