Methodology:A cross sectional study was conducted to determine the prevalence , disability and back pain disability in a group of workers who assist in the shift from 6 am to 2 pm , a manufacturer of ceramic products in the town of Madrid department of Cundinamarca, Colombia . It took into account variables such as age, job, length of current position, cigarette consume, physical activity, presence or absence of LBP and intensity of LBP. Two scales to determine the level of disability and disability for back pain were applied. Oswestry scale (ODI,OswestryDisabilityIndex) to assess back pain and disability of the Roland - Morris disability employment physical. For the analysis of continuous variables, the assumption of normality was determined using test ShapiroWilks. The presence of associations of Chi -square or Fischer’s exact test was used if the expected value is less than five. For data analysis software EpiInfo version 7.1.3 (CDC,Atlanta,USA)wasused. Results:99 workers, ranging in age from 32 to 46 years and a median of 37 years were included. More than half of workers reported moderate pain evaluated (n = 57 ) , only 10 % reported maximum pain , the inability to scale Oswestry78 workers were between 0 and 40 %, reflecting this lack of disability, and just 4 patients had values between 40 and 60 % moderate disability . The disability scale Roland -Morris showed that the majority of workers have a mild disability (n = 97) and only 2 employees filed moderate disability. The only gave positive association found between the presence of LBP and implementation physical activity once per week (p = 0.005). Conclusions:LBP is present in over 50% of workers surveyed, but only 4 of the workers surveyed, presents this pain disability. Regarding disability we determined that only 2 of the workers states.}, keywords = {Dolor lumbar}, keywords = {industria cerámica}, keywords = {discapacidad física}, title = {Prevalencia de dolor lumbar en los trabajadores de una planta de fabricación de productos de cerámica de Madrid, Cundinamarca, en el turno de 6 am a 2pm, año 2014.}, publisher = {Universidad del Rosario}, keywords = {ceramic industry}, keywords = {LBP}, keywords = {physical disability}, }
