- ÍtemSolo MetadatosComparison of parasite loads in serum and blood samples from patients in acute and chronic phases of Chagas disease – CORRIGENDUM(2018-12) Galindo Hernández, Carolina; Teherán, Aníbal; Flórez, Carolina; Ramírez, Juan DavidMolecular methods have been developed for the detection and quantification of Trypanosoma cruzi DNA in blood samples from patients with Chagas disease. However, aspects of sample processing necessary for quantitative real-time PCR (qPCR), such as the addition of guanidine hydrochloride to whole blood samples, may limit timely access to molecular diagnosis. We analysed 169 samples from serum and guanidine-EDTA blood (GEB) obtained from patients in acute and chronic phases of Chagas disease. We applied qPCR targeted to the satellite DNA region. Finally, we compared the parasite loads and cycle of threshold values of the qPCR. The results confirmed the usefulness of serum samples for the detection and quantification of parasite DNA in patients with Chagas disease, especially in the acute phase. However, the parasite loads detected in serum samples from patients in the chronic phase were lower than those detected in GEB samples. The epidemiological implications of the findings are herein discussed.

- ÍtemSolo MetadatosCorrigendum to Characterizations of Pareto-efficient, fair, and strategy-proof allocation rules in queueing problems (Characterizations of Pareto-efficient, fair, and strategy-proof allocation rules in queueing problems (2010) 68(1) (220–232), (S0899825609001547), (10.1016/j.geb.2009.07.003))(2019) Kay?, Ça?atay; Ramaekers, EveWe are grateful to Youngsub Chun, Manipushpak Mitra, and Suresh Mutuswami for pointing out that Pareto-efficiency, symmetry, and strategy-proofness are not sufficient to characterize the Largest Equally Distributed Pairwise Pivotal rule. The error occurs on page 227. Statement (3) in Theorem 3 should be as follows: Theorem 3 Let ? be a rule. (3) If ? satisfies Pareto-efficiency, equal treatment of equals in welfare, symmetry, and strategy-proofness, it is the Largest Equally Distributed Pairwise Pivotal rule. Proof Statement 3: Assume that ? satisfies the axioms of Theorem 3.3. Let [Formula presented] and [Formula presented]. By Pareto-efficiency, [Formula presented]. By Theorem 1, Pareto-efficiency and strategy-proofness imply that there is [Formula presented] such that for each [Formula presented], if [Formula presented], then [Formula presented] and if [Formula presented], then [Formula presented]. By equal treatment of equals in welfare, for each [Formula presented] with [Formula presented] and [Formula presented], we have [Formula presented], and [Formula presented] and [Formula presented]. By the logic of Statement 1, for each [Formula presented], we have [Formula presented]. Thus, [Formula presented]. By symmetry, [Formula presented]. ? Therefore, Theorem 3 could be rewritten as follows: Theorem 3 Let ? be a rule. (1) If ? satisfies Pareto-efficiency, equal treatment of equals in welfare, and strategy-proofness, it is a subcorrespondence of the Largest Equally Distributed Pairwise Pivotal rule.(2) If ? is a subcorrespondence of the Largest Equally Distributed Pairwise Pivotal rule, it satisfies Pareto-efficiency, no-envy, and strong strategy-proofness.(3) If ? satisfies Pareto-efficiency, equal treatment of equals in welfare, symmetry, and strategy-proofness, it is the Largest Equally Distributed Pairwise Pivotal rule.(4) If ? is the Largest Equally Distributed Pairwise Pivotal rule, it satisfies Pareto-efficiency, equal treatment of equals in welfare, anonymity, and strong strategy-proofness. In many models where the allocation rule is single-valued, equity in physical terms implies equity in welfare terms. In allocation problems of objects via lotteries, when preferences are strict, equal treatment of equals in physical terms and equal treatment of equals in welfare are equivalent (Bogomolnaia and Moulin, 2001). It is important to note that in our model, equity in physical terms is not related to equity in welfare terms, i.e., symmetry does not imply equal treatment of equals in welfare and vice versa. The rule that selects all efficient queues and sets each agent's transfer equal to zero satisfies symmetry, but not equal treatment of equals in welfare. Proper subcorrespondences of the rule that is the union of all single-valued balanced Groves rules associated with [Formula presented] satisfy equal treatment of equals in welfare, but not symmetry. Recently, Chun et al. (in press) prove that the Largest Equally Distributed Pairwise Pivotal rule is the only rule that satisfies Pareto-efficiency, equal treatment of equals in welfare, Pareto-indifference,1 and strong strategy-proofness.2 They make use of essential single-valuedness of the Largest Equally Distributed Pairwise Pivotal rule in their proof. For completeness, we would like to mention that Hashimoto and Saitoh (2012) show that under strategy-proofness, anonymity in welfare3 implies queue-efficiency and by using Statements (1) and (2) in Theorem 3, they prove that the Largest Equally Distributed Pairwise Pivotal rule is the only rule that satisfies budget balancedness, anonymity in welfare, and strategy-proofness. © 2016 Elsevier Inc.

- ÍtemSolo MetadatosCorrigendum to ‘Prevalence of cervical HPV infection in women with systemic lupus erythematosus: a systematic review and meta-analysis’.(2019) García-Carrasco M.; Mendoza-Pinto C.; Rojas-Villarraga A.; Molano González, Nicolás; Vallejo-Ruiz V.; Munguía-Realpozo P.; Colombo A.L.; Cervera R.The authors would like to inform the readers of needed clarification regarding errors inserted in Table 3 of this article. (See Table 3.) In the information on the group analysis for multiple sexual partners, the row corresponding to the information on the estimate of the parameter Sigma^2 actually corresponds to the information on the interaction term between control-case status and multiple sexual partners (Cases:MSP). The information reported for I 2 is actually the information for Sigma^2 and the information for I 2 was not presented. In addition, we have changed the name of the column “Mean structure” to parameter, since parameters like Sigma^2 and I 2 are not related to the mean structure of the models. - ÍtemAcceso AbiertoCorrigendum to “Anomalous Consistency in Mild Cognitive Impairment: A complex networks approach” [Chaos Solitons Fract. J. 70 (2014) 144–155](2015-04) Martínez, J.H.; Ariza, P.; Zanin, M.; Papo, D.; Maestú, F.; Pastor, J.M.; Bajo, R.; Boccaletti, Stefano; Buldú, J.M.Increased variability in performance has been associated with the emergence of several neurological and psychiatric pathologies. However, whether and how consistency of neuronal activity may also be indicative of an underlying pathology is still poorly understood. Here we propose a novel method for evaluating consistency from non-invasive brain recordings. We evaluate the consistency of the cortical activity recorded with magnetoencephalography in a group of subjects diagnosed with Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI), a condition sometimes prodromal of dementia, during the execution of a memory task. We use metrics coming from nonlinear dynamics to evaluate the consistency of cortical regions. A representation known as parenclitic networks is constructed, where atypical features are endowed with a network structure, the topological properties of which can be studied at various scales. Pathological conditions correspond to strongly heterogeneous networks, whereas typical or normative conditions are characterized by sparsely connected networks with homogeneous nodes. The analysis of this kind of networks allows identifying the extent to which consistency is affected in the MCI group and the focal points where MCI is especially severe. To the best of our knowledge, these results represent the first attempt at evaluating the consistency of brain functional activity using complex networks theory.
- ÍtemAcceso AbiertoDeep venous thrombosis after knee arthroscopy: A meta-analysis(2005) Streubel, Philipp NicolasIlahi and colleagues (June 2005)1 reported a pooled deep venous thrombosis (DVT) incidence rate of 9.4% after knee arthroscopy. After adjusting for sensitivity discrepancies between ultrasound and venography, the calculated incidence reaches 9.9%. The authors give venographically diagnosed DVT a 2-fold weight over ultrasonographically diagnosed DVT. As reported, evidence shows an almost 100% sensitivity for venography in contrast to 50% for ultrasound in detecting DVT in asymptomatic patients.
- ÍtemSolo MetadatosEffectiveness of low back pain treatment with acupuncture(2018) Montes L.A.; Valenzuela M.J.Introduction: A retrospective descriptive study was carried out at a Health Services Institution in Bogota under the precept that it is estimated that in Colombia 40% of the population has used acupuncture services for the treatment of chronic diseases, however the evidence about the effectiveness of this treatment is limited. Objective: Perform a retrospective descriptive analysis, based on the consolidated medical records, in the treatment of back pain acupuncture in patients attending an IPS Bogota. Material and methods: 150 medical records of low back pain patients treated from January 2014 to May 2016 were taken, which were subject to the inclusion criteria defined by the authors, yielding 48 stories submitted to the Friedman test in order to identify the impact On pain in the selected patients, at the same time by means of an unstructured measuring instrument the impact of the adherence on the effectiveness of the treatment was measured. Results: With a Friedman test result at a 95% confidence level, the study demonstrates that there is a positive impact on pain reduction in patients with low back pain in acupuncture and that adherence is a key factor in effectiveness Discussion: Acupuncture is effective and adherence is a fundamental part of the process, it is important to create access to this type of therapy through implementation within the services of the Obligatory Health Plan in Colombia.
