Este pueblo, cercado de montañas vino tinto y a orillas de un río con fama curativa, ha quedado casi vacío y las causas son múltiples. Antes de la construcción de la carretera que comunica a Bogotá con Bucaramanga, que se habilitó en el 1948, Jordán era un paso obligado para quienes llevaban y traían mercancía en mulas. La violencia bipartidista y el cierre de la sede principal de la empresa Colombiana de Tabaco, en Jordán, también jugaron un papel clave en la disminución geográfica del municipio.
Abstract
This town, enclosured by the mountains and at the shores of a river with curative fame, has almost become empty and the causes are multiple. Before the construction of the road that connects Bogota with Bucaramanga, which was enabled in 1948, Jordan was a must for those who carried merchandise on mules. The bipartisan violence and the closing of the main headquarters of the Colombian tobacco company, in Jordan, also played a key role in the decrease of the demography of the municipality.
