Resumen
Abstract
Introduction: A retrospective descriptive study was carried out at a Health Services Institution in Bogota under the precept that it is estimated that in Colombia 40% of the population has used acupuncture services for the treatment of chronic diseases, however the evidence about the effectiveness of this treatment is limited. Objective: Perform a retrospective descriptive analysis, based on the consolidated medical records, in the treatment of back pain acupuncture in patients attending an IPS Bogota. Material and methods: 150 medical records of low back pain patients treated from January 2014 to May 2016 were taken, which were subject to the inclusion criteria defined by the authors, yielding 48 stories submitted to the Friedman test in order to identify the impact On pain in the selected patients, at the same time by means of an unstructured measuring instrument the impact of the adherence on the effectiveness of the treatment was measured. Results: With a Friedman test result at a 95% confidence level, the study demonstrates that there is a positive impact on pain reduction in patients with low back pain in acupuncture and that adherence is a key factor in effectiveness Discussion: Acupuncture is effective and adherence is a fundamental part of the process, it is important to create access to this type of therapy through implementation within the services of the Obligatory Health Plan in Colombia.
