Abstract
Introduction: One of the diseases that affects cattle at worldwide in mastitis. Objective: To identify the association between the presentation of mastitis and the factors of the herd, the intrinsic factors of the productive system and the management practices in the dairy farms Zipaquirá, Cundinamarca. Methods: An observational cross-sectional study from a secondary source. We analyzed variables related to the management of clinical and subclinical mastitis, routine and milking characteristics, dry cow management; Regarding the consideration of mastitis as a problem on the farm by the interviewees and the frequency of occurrence of subclinical mastitis. Contingency tables were done, the association was assessed by a square test (p-value <0.05) and prevalence ratios and confidence intervals (95% CI) were found and a logistic regression model was proposed. Results: There is an association between the producer's perception of bovine mastitis on his farm and the variables: milk rejection by somatic cells (RP 1,4 95% CI [1,2 - 1,6], p < 0,05); Presentation of fever in the animal, (RP 1,2 95% CI [1,0 - 1,5], p <0,05); Product to seal the udder; (RP 0,6 95% CI [0,5 - 0,8], p <0,05) and use of dung; (RP 1,3 95% CI [1,1 - 1,6], p <0,05). There is an association between subclinical mastitis and type of mobile stable, (RP 1,9 95% CI [1,0 – 3,4], p <0,05). The stable type explains the event of presentation of subclinical mastitis according to the logistic regression model. Herds carrying the records are 8,7% less likely to present subclinical disease. Conclusion: Decision-making against the control and prevention of subclinical mastitis in Zipaquirá farms should direct the characteristics of establishments and the management of records.
