Resumen
La migración es uno de los fenómenos sociales que más cubrimiento ha captado a lo largo del mundo en los últimos años. Desde todos los rincones del mundo hay personas que buscan vidas distintas en los países desarrollados a los que pueden acceder por vías terrestres o marítimas, pues suelen ser procesos que se llevan a cabo de manera irregular. La frontera sur de Estados Unidos es una de las más custodiadas del mundo, aún así, se estima que en el último año más de dos millones de personas fueron detenidas allí, y no se tiene certeza de cuántas son las que logran evadir a los agentes migratorios y se instalan en estados como California, Nueva York o Nueva Jersey, en donde la población latina crece hasta cifras de millones. En estos lugares las comunidades hispanas crecen por las facilidades laborales que encuentran y, entre otras cosas, porque encuentran seguridad y respaldo a su situación migratoria. Por ejemplo, Nueva York y Nueva Jersey son considerados estados santuario, en donde los inmigrantes no son perseguidos por su status legal. Este especial busca visibilizar las historias de vida y migración de estas personas en diversos escenarios; desde sus lugares de trabajo, su vida familiar, asuntos legales, e incluso las causas de su éxodo.
Abstract
Migration is one of the social phenomena that has received the most coverage throughout the world in recent years. From all corners of the world there are people who seek different lives in developed countries that can be accessed by land or sea, as these processes are usually carried out irregularly. The southern border of the United States is one of the most guarded in the world, even so, it is estimated that in the last year more than two million people were detained there, and it is not certain how many manage to evade the agents. migrants and settle in states such as California, New York or New Jersey, where the Latino population grows to millions. In these places, Hispanic communities grow due to the job opportunities they find and, among other things, because they find security and support for their immigration status. For example, New York and New Jersey are considered sanctuary states, where immigrants are not persecuted for their legal status. This special seeks to make visible the life and migration stories of these people in various settings; from their workplaces, their family life, legal matters, and even the causes of their exodus.
