Abstract
This case study evaluates the trajectory and managerial model of Hacienda Pekín, established in 2023 in Piedras, Tolima, with the purpose of sustainably producing Red and White Brahman cattle. The central issue relates to the challenges that arise throughout its expansion process, particularly those associated with pressure on natural resources, climate change, and increasing traceability requirements in regulated markets. The aim of the study is to analyze how the company can balance socio-environmental responsibility with profitability and productivity within the broader transition toward sustainable livestock farming in Colombia. The research is conducted through a descriptive–analytical case study grounded in document review, analysis of environmental and productive indicators, and theoretical frameworks on corporate governance and sustainability. The analysis considers environmental risks, infrastructure, market opportunities, and management practices. The findings enable the identification of strategic issues related to growth and the adoption of sustainable standards, providing significant implications for decision-making and sustainability management in the livestock sector.
