| spa |
dc.description.abstract | Capybaras (Hydrochoerus hydrochaeris) are the largest rodent in the world. Free-living populations are commercially harvested for their meat and leather in Colombia, Venezuela, and Argentina; however, there are concerns that legal and illegal extraction will not be sustainable. Since capybaras are considered an economic resource, there have been several attempts to explore the effect of different hunting strategies on their population dynamics. Two previous population models have been developed for this purpose; however, none included the social behavior of the capybara that may affect population dynamics. | spa |
