Resumen
Este trabajo inicia en 1930, año que marcó grandes transformaciones tanto en la Universidad del Rosario como en el gobierno nacional. En el primer caso, no solo falleció el rector Rafael María Carrasquilla, en el cargo durante 40 años, sino que también se eligió a José Vicente Castro Silva como su sucesor. Esta decisión abrió el debate en torno al régimen elector y la limitada participación del cuerpo estudiantil en este tipo de decisiones. Por otro lado, se ponía fin a décadas de gobierno conservador para darle paso a la República Liberal, un gobierno caracterizado por impulsar grandes transformaciones sociales y educativas. Con esto, el trabajo explora cuáles fueron los retos y decisiones tomadas por Castro Silva como rector del Rosario y cómo se relacionó la institución con las reformas educativas de los liberales.
Abstract
This work begins in 1930, a year that marked significant transformations both at the University of Rosario and in the national government. At the university, not only did Rector Rafael María Carrasquilla, who had held the position for 40 years, pass away, but José Vicente Castro Silva was also elected as his successor. This decision sparked debate surrounding the electoral system and the limited participation of the students in such decisions. Furthermore, decades of Conservative rule came to an end, giving way to the Liberal Republic, a government characterized by its promotion of major social and educational reforms. This work explores the challenges and decisions faced by Castro Silva as Rector of Rosario and how the institution interacted with the Liberal educational reforms.
