Estos son los dos significados de Escazú, el nombre del cantón de San José, capital de Costa Rica, donde se realizaron las negociaciones que resultaron en la adopción, en marzo de 2018, del Acuerdo deEscazú. Este contempla la implementación efectiva de tres derechos esenciales —el acceso a la información, la participación y la justicia, todos en asuntos ambientales—, así como la protección de los líderes sociales dedicados a ello. Y aunque la tradición del derecho internacional señala que los tratados adoptan su nombre del lugar donde se materializan, no parecería ser una mera coincidencia que la etimología de la palabra tenga en su entraña a la naturaleza. Algo semejante le pasa a Lina Muñoz Ávila, quien de forma casi instintiva incorporó el medioambiente en su esfera profesional, personal y política hasta reconfigurar su ADN. | es-ES |
| dc.description.abstract | "Resting stone” or “place of hedges”. These are the two meanings of Escazú, the name of the canton of San José, capital of Costa Rica, where negotiations were held that resulted in the adoption of the Escazú Agreement in March 2018. This contemplates the effective implementation of three essential rights—access to information, participation, and justice, all in environmental matters— as well as the protection of the social leaders who are dedicated to this effort. Although the tradition of international law entails that treaties take the name of the place where they are materialized, it would not seem to be a mere coincidence that the etymology of the word has nature in its essence. Something similar happened to Lina Muñoz Ávila, who almost instinctively incorporated the environment into her professional, personal, and political sphere to reconfigure her very being. | en-US |
