Reincorporación laboral en trabajadores de la salud con Covid-19. Una revisión de alcance de literatura

dc.descriptionIntroducción: La pandemia de COVID-19 ha expuesto a los trabajadores de la salud a un riesgo elevado de infección, generando una crisis sanitaria y laboral. La reincorporación de estos profesionales, tras superar la enfermedad, se ha convertido en un desafío complejo debido a las secuelas físicas y mentales que pueden persistir. En estudios evidencian un deterioro significativo en la capacidad laboral de quienes han padecido COVID-19. La rehabilitación se ha vuelto fundamental para abordar estas secuelas y facilitar el retorno al trabajo, requiriendo un enfoque integral que incluya apoyo médico, psicológico y laboral. Objetivo: Identificar las diferentes estrategias de reincorporación laboral en trabajadores de la salud con Covid-19, a través de una revisión de alcance de la literatura. Materiales y métodos: Se realizó una búsqueda exhaustiva en bases de datos como PubMed, Scopus y la Biblioteca Virtual de la Salud, utilizando términos clave relacionados con la reincorporación laboral, trabajadores de la salud y COVID-19. Se seleccionaron artículos publicados entre 2019 y 2023, considerando estudios tanto en español como en inglés. Resultados: Los resultados de la revisión revelan un perfil predominante de trabajadores de la salud reincorporados: mujeres de mediana edad, principalmente enfermeras. La salud mental, caracterizada por altos índices de depresión y ansiedad, emerge como un desafío significativo en este grupo. La duración del aislamiento y la implementación de estrategias graduales de reincorporación, que incluyen evaluaciones médicas y adaptaciones laborales, se muestran como factores clave para facilitar el retorno al trabajo. Sin embargo, se identifican lagunas en la investigación, como la falta de estudios comparativos sobre la eficacia de diferentes métodos de reincorporación y la influencia de otras variables en el proceso. Conclusión: La reincorporación laboral de trabajadores de la salud post-COVID-19 es un proceso complejo que requiere un enfoque multidisciplinario. La evidencia disponible sugiere que las estrategias de reincorporación gradual, combinadas con un apoyo integral que incluya la atención a la salud mental, son fundamentales para garantizar un retorno exitoso al trabajo. Se recomienda realizar investigaciones futuras para profundizar en el conocimiento sobre los factores que influyen en la reincorporación y para desarrollar protocolos más específicos y personalizados para cada caso.
dc.description.abstractIntroduction: The COVID-19 pandemic has exposed healthcare workers to a high risk of infection, leading to both a health and labor crisis. The reintegration of these professionals after recovering from the disease has become a complex challenge due to the physical and mental sequelae that may persist. Studies have shown a significant deterioration in the work capacity of those who have had COVID-19. Rehabilitation has become essential to address these sequelae and facilitate their return to work, requiring a comprehensive approach that includes medical, psychological, and occupational support. Objective: To identify the different strategies for reintegrating healthcare workers with COVID-19 back into the workforce, through a scoping literature review. Materials and Methods: A thorough search was conducted in databases such as PubMed, Scopus, and the Virtual Health Library, using key terms related to work reintegration, healthcare workers, and COVID-19. Articles published between 2019 and 2023 were selected, considering studies in both Spanish and English. Results: The review results reveal a predominant profile of reintegrated healthcare workers: middle-aged women, primarily nurses. Mental health, characterized by high levels of depression and anxiety, emerges as a significant challenge in this group. The duration of isolation and the implementation of gradual reintegration strategies, including medical assessments and workplace adaptations, are identified as key factors for facilitating a successful return to work. However, gaps in the research are noted, such as the lack of comparative studies on the effectiveness of different reintegration methods and the influence of other variables on the process. Conclusion: The reintegration of healthcare workers post-COVID-19 is a complex process that requires a multidisciplinary approach. The available evidence suggests that gradual reintegration strategies, combined with comprehensive support including mental health care, are crucial for ensuring a successful return to work. Future research is recommended to further explore the factors influencing reintegration and to develop more specific and personalized protocols for each case.
