¡Mujeres de cuidado! Una exploración de la agencia femenina en la misión profética bíblica

dc.descriptionEs fácil pensar en las misiones proféticas como trabajos individuales en los que un solo hombre, apoyado por Dios y sus fieles, realiza una difícil labor gracias a su implacable fe y perseverancia. En esta monografía presentamos una lectura alternativa de las acciones y deliberaciones morales de las mujeres que acompañaron a los profetas de forma activa en las historias bíblicas, separadas según el rol que cumplieron en sus vidas, ya sea como madres o esposas. Argumentamos que sus actos y deliberaciones morales pueden ser analizados según la ética del cuidado, específicamente según las cinco características que postula Virginia Held para posicionar el cuidado como un valor y una práctica. Concluimos esta monografía afirmando que las relaciones construidas en la maternidad y el matrimonio apoyaron el trabajo de los profetas, puesto que las mujeres que les acompañaban tomaron decisiones cruciales en el desarrollo de sus labores, afectando el mundo religioso y social como lo conocemos mediante relaciones de cuidado.
dc.description.abstractProphetic missions tend to be seen as a single man’s work, uplifted by God and their followers, but performed by an individual with tremendous faith and endurance. This paper presents an alternative reading of the actions and moral deliberations of women who were active in biblical stories alongside the main prophets, divided by the part they played in said prophet’s lives, either as mothers or wives. We argue that their acts and moral debates can be analyzed under the Ethics of Care, more specifically, under the five characteristics identified by Virginia Held that position care as both a value and a practice. By the end of this thesis, we affirm that relationships of motherhood and marriage uplifted the works of the prophets, as the women took crucial decisions that supported the work enthroned to them by God, affecting the religious and social world as we know it through their caring relations.
