| dc.description | El merozoito de Plasmodium vivax invade preferentemente los reticulocitos, probablemente utilizando PvRBP-1 como ligando. Se han sintetizado ciento noventa y cinco péptidos de 15 meros a partir de la secuencia de PvRBP-1; probado en ensayos de unión de reticulocitos o eritrocitos. Veinticinco péptidos ( K d = 76–380 nM) definieron específicamente cuatro regiones de unión a reticulocitos. Se ha informado de que un fragmento recombinante de la Región I altamente conservado se une específicamente a los reticulocitos. Los residuos críticos de HABP para la unión de reticulocitos estaban altamente conservados en 20 P. vivax colombianosaislados clínicos, lo que sugiere una función biológica importante. | dc.description.abstract | The Plasmodium vivax merozoite preferentially invades reticulocytes, probably using PvRBP-1 as a ligand. One hundred and ninety-five 15-mer peptides have been synthesized from the PvRBP-1 sequence; tested in reticulocyte or erythrocyte binding assays. Twenty-five peptides (K d = 76-380 nM) specifically defined four reticulocyte-binding regions. A highly conserved recombinant Region I fragment has been reported to bind specifically to reticulocytes. Critical HABP residues for reticulocyte binding were highly conserved in 20 clinically isolated P. vivax colombianos, suggesting an important biological role. There were six overlapping reticulocyte binding sites for these peptides based on enzyme sensitivity and mutual competition binding assays; located on 26 and 41 kDa reticulocyte membrane surface proteins. | spa |
