Resumen
Este proyecto surge del interés por el límite no como una barrera física, sino como un espesor; un umbral flexible donde lo urbano se funde con lo natural. Su manera de habitar el territorio da origen a esta propuesta: un conjunto habitacional de vivienda productiva en el Barrio 20 de Julio, San Cristóbal Sur; una zona de memoria obrera definida por el pulso del río Fucha y una fuerte dinámica de economía popular. A través de la observación directa y un diálogo constante con la comunidad, se reconoce la vivienda autoconstruida como el referente principal para entender cómo los habitantes del 20 de Julio habitan la dualidad entre lo construido y lo natural. Estos registros permiten traducir la experiencia de la "casa-tienda" o la "casa-taller" al diseño arquitectónico, donde la vida desborda los muros y transforma la calle en la antesala del hogar. Proyectar una infraestructura social que funcione como mediadora entre la escala del barrio y la escala íntima de la vivienda, favoreciendo el arraigo y el derecho a la ciudad, es el objetivo central del proyecto. Se toma como estrategia espacial la gradiente, un concepto que permite transiciones fluidas a través de cuatro tipologías —la tienda, el parqueadero, el taller y la huerta— que integran el sustento diario dentro del espacio habitable. La propuesta adopta un enfoque sostenible inspirado en la autoconstrucción, validando los procesos de crecimiento y adaptación propios del lugar. Así, Gradientes del Habitar responde a la necesidad de proponer nuevas maneras de habitar en el 20 de Julio, incorporando dentro del tejido residencial elementos de la vida vecinal y la naturaleza del río. Es un manifiesto sobre la arquitectura colectiva como soporte físico de la memoria, la identidad y la resiliencia comunitaria.

The proposal adopts a sustainable approach inspired by self-construction, validating the processes of growth and adaptation inherent to the place. Thus, Gradients of Inhabitation responds to the need for proposing new ways of inhabiting 20 de Julio, incorporating elements of neighborhood life and the nature of the river into the residential fabric. It is a manifesto on collective architecture as the physical support for memory, identity, and community resilience.
