Resumen
Este estudio trata la cuestión de la memoria colectiva de la comunidad La Guadalupe, Suchitepéquez, Guatemala, que se forma casi exclusivamente de familias que se vieron forzadas a huir a México a principios de la década de los 1980 y que volvieron a Guatemala a partir de 1995 con la ayuda de iniciativas para la repatriación. Se averigua en qué medida surge allí una superación del conflicto, se pregunta por memorias colectivas de la comunidad y de todo el país y se abordan las necesidades e ideas de la comunidad en términos de la construcción de memorias colectivas. Además, se examinaron las medidas de asistencia y resarcimiento recibidas por lxs retornadxs. Al mismo tiempo, esta obra en sí, con los testimonios recolectados, también representa un propio tipo de memoria de la comunidad Lupita. Breves presentaciones de teorías de memoria colectiva y de la historia de Guatemala crean un marco para este estudio. Con principios éticos reflexionados, se realizaron encuestas en la comunidad, que fueron evaluadas y analizadas para el trabajo presente. Una de las constataciones más importantes de esta tesis es la cercanía de la memoria y la identidad para lxs encuestadxs. Como el conflicto aún no se ha superado suficientemente, lxs entrevistadxs expresaron sus ideas sobre posibles formas de superación. Todxs ellxs ven una superación junto con memorias colectivas, especialmente para jóvenes del país, indispensable.
Abstract
This study addresses the issue of collective memory of the community of La Guadalupe, Suchitepéquez, Guatemala, which consists almost exclusively of families who were forced to flee to Mexico in the early 1980s and who returned to Guatemala after 1995 with the help of repatriation initiatives. It explores the extent to which an overcoming of the conflict is about to develop, asks about collective memories of the community and the country as a whole, and addresses the needs and ideas of the community in terms of the construction of collective memories. In addition, the assistance and redress measures received by the returnees were examined. At the same time, this thesis itself, with the testimonies collected, represents a type of memory of the Lupita community. Brief presentations of collective memory theories and Guatemalan history create a framework for this study. With reflected ethical principles, surveys were conducted in the community, which were evaluated and analyzed for the present work. One of the most important findings of this thesis is the closeness of memory and identity for the respondents. As the conflict has not yet been sufficiently overcome, the interviewees expressed their ideas regarding possible ways of coming to terms with the past. All of them see an overcoming of the conflict together with collective memories, especially for the youth of the country, as indispensable.
