| dc.description.abstract | Physical inactivity and sedentary behaviours increase dramatically in many countries, affecting the overall health of the world's population and leading to increased risk factors for chronic non-communicable diseases. Regular physical activity reduces these risk factors due to sedentary behaviors and physical inactivity, strengthens people's abilities and capacities, and promotes actions that help change social, environmental and economic conditions. Objective: To determine the effectiveness of online social network interventions to promote physical activity in young people. Search Methods: Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trial, MEDLINE, Embase, PsycINFO and the databases of ongoing clinical trial registries WHO, Clinical Trails, Controlled trials. Results: Five studies (4 ECCA and 1 ECNA) with a total of 497 participants were included. The five studies compared interventions with RSO and other interventions to promote physical activity in young people. Four studies had positive effects, finding an increase in the level of physical activity. The studies showed a high risk of detection and performance bias. No adverse events were reported. Conclusions Physical activity level can be improved with RSO interventions, effect estimation is low for GRADE methodology. Studies of better methodological quality are required. | spa |
