The simultaneity between the current information and communication technologies (ICT), which with the current industrial revolution classified as 4.0, aims that all the everyday objects with which a person interacts allow to provide relevant information of a specific environment through Internet. The field of medicine and more specifically, medical devices allow us to contemplate a shared vision of interconnected sensors that can improve medical care services, with the possibility of the appearance of new technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT) promise to be the field to follow in the near future. This paper offers an approach to the implementation of a real-time monitoring system on the main variables of a Computerized Axial Tomography (CAT) in the imaging service of a fourth level hospital through the IoT. The information obtained about the different sensors implemented in the medical team, suggested relevant information about the importance of monitoring the main variables that are directly related to the operating specifications suggested by the manufacturer of the medical equipment. The data collected were analyzed using the “regression” diagnostic test as a probabilistic strategy to look for a predictive value that suggests a possible failure of the medical team. The results showed that the information collected suggests the importance of monitoring the operating parameters of the CAT continuously given the behavior of some atypical data that were obtained, although there was no failure in the time window where the CAT was performed. © 2020, Springer Nature Switzerland AG.eng
