| dc.description | El síndrome BAIT es una entidad clínica infrecuente y de descripción reciente, caracterizada por una pérdida aguda y bilateral del pigmento del iris, transiluminación simétrica, dispersión pigmentaria en la cámara anterior, midriasis media fija y, con frecuencia, elevación de la presión intraocular. Aunque su etiología permanece incierta, en aproximadamente dos tercios de los casos se ha documentado una exposición previa a fluoroquinolonas, lo que plantea una posible susceptibilidad farmacogenómica. No obstante, aún no existen estudios que analicen los polimorfismos genéticos asociados al desarrollo de esta condición. | |
| dc.description.abstract | The Bilateral Acute Iris Transillumination (BAIT) syndrome is a rare and recently described clinical entity characterized by acute and bilateral loss of iris pigment, symmetrical transillumination, pigment dispersion in the anterior chamber, fixed mid-dilated pupils, and frequently elevated intraocular pressure. Although its etiology remains uncertain, previous exposure to fluoroquinolones has been documented in approximately two-thirds of reported cases, suggesting a potential pharmacogenomic susceptibility. However, no studies to date have investigated the genetic polymorphisms associated with the development of this condition. | |
