Resumen
La medición de la competitividad de los países ha sido un tema de interés general en la literatura existente de la administración. Uno de los factores más importantes para determinar este tema es el entorno regulatorio y sus efectos que tiene sobre el desempeño económico de un país o región. Uno de los estudios referentes para el análisis del entorno regulatorio es el reporte del Doing Business del Banco Mundial el cual se publica con una periodicidad anual. Este informe evalúa la facilidad de hacer negocio de un país por medio de la evaluación de diez categorías las cuales sirven de insumo para la puntuación de la facilidad de hacer negocio de un país. El objetivo principal de este estudio es identificar las condiciones y evolución del entorno regulatorio empresarial y su relación con el crecimiento económico en países de América Latina y el Caribe en el periodo entre los años 2009 y 2019. Este estudio realizó un análisis y seguimiento de cuatro variables del reporte Doing Business, así como también los datos de crecimiento económico de cada uno de los países dentro del periodo evaluado. Para evaluar si existe una relación entre las variables tomadas del estudio Doing Business y el Crecimiento Económico se realizó un análisis estadístico de correlación lineal entre estas variables para determinar si existe una relación entre estas variables.
Abstract
The measurement of competitiveness across countries has been a topic of general interest in management’s existing literature. One of the most important factors to determine this topic is the regulatory environment and its effects in the economic performance of a country or region. One of the most relevant studies for the analysis of the regulatory environment is the Doing Business Report made by the World Bank, this study is published on a yearly basis. It measures the ease of doing business within a country through the evaluation of ten categories which serve as an input to determine the score of ease of doing business for a country. The main objective of this study is to identify the conditions and evolution of the regulatory environment and its relationship with the economic growth in countries of Latin America and the Caribbean in the period between the years 2009 and 2019. This study analyzed and tracked four variables from the Doing Business report as well as economic growth data taken for each of the countries analyzed within the period in question. To evaluate the presence of a relation between the variables taken from the Doing Business report and economic growth a statistical analysis of linear correlation was made to determine whether if there is a relation between these variables.
