Infancias subordinadas: las historias de Tránsito y Ofelia

Resumen
Este trabajo parte de las historias de las infancias de mi bisabuela Tránsito y de mi abuela Ofelia. Sus historias comparten tres características (1) fueron parte del servicio doméstico interno, (2) no fueron reconocidas por sus padres y (3) fueron niñas. Estas tres características comunes entre ambas son las que me llevan a plantear sus infancias como subordinadas. Las infancias subordinadas hacen referencia a las condiciones de vulnerabilidad que afectan a las niñas y los niños que nacen y crecen en contextos marcados por profundas relaciones de dominación. Lo que deriva en mi pregunta por ¿Cómo las relaciones que tejieron Tránsito y Ofelia a la vez con sus familiares consanguíneos (as) y con las familias para las cuales trabajaban, como parte del servicio doméstico, dan cuenta de sus infancias subordinadas? En sus infancias, Tránsito y Ofelia cumplían simultáneamente (o, en ocasión, alternativamente) dos roles: por un lado, niñas integrantes de la familia y, por el otro, trabajadoras del servicio doméstico. Los relatos aquí presentados dan cuenta de esa dualidad, que marcaba las relaciones que tenían tanto con sus familiares consanguíneos como con la familia empleadora. Siendo mi principal argumento que las historias de Tránsito y Ofelia dan cuenta de la complejidad de las relaciones de las niñas del servicio doméstico con su familia consanguínea y con sus empleadores. Esta complejidad se debe a la vulnerabilidad impuesta por estas relaciones en las que se pueden encontrar simultáneamente incluidas y excluidas; adentro y afuera. La elaboración de este trabajo, partió del trabajo con historia de familia, principalmente, en colaboración con mi abuela Ofelia, lo cual implico el uso de gran variedad de metodologías (cada una me enfrentaba a sus propios retos), entre las que se encuentran: el uso de los relatos, la entrevista, gráficas genealógicas, documentos como actas de bautizo, fotografías, música y visita al lugar de nacimiento de Tránsito. Destaco dos aportes de mi trabajo, por un lado, una contribución a los estudios sobre el trabajo doméstico infantil interno en las temporalidades de mediados de 1920 y 1950 en Colombia. Por otro lado, una serie de contribuciones en debates metodológicos, no solo por el uso variado de herramientas, sino por el espacio para la reflexividad y los debates entorno a la intimidad, los afectos y la distancia en campo.
Abstract
This work is based on the childhood stories of my great-grandmother Tránsito and my grandmother Ofelia. Their stories share three characteristics (1) they were part of the internal domestic service, (2) they were not recognized by their parents and (3) they were girls. These three common characteristics between the two are the ones that lead me to pose their childhoods as subordinate. Subordinated childhoods refer to the conditions of vulnerability that affect girls and boys who are born and grow up in contexts marked by deep relations of domination. This leads me to ask how the relationships that Tránsito and Ofelia weaved with their blood relatives and with the families they worked for, as part of the domestic service, account for their subordinated childhoods? In their childhoods, Tránsito and Ofelia simultaneously (or, on occasion, alternatively) fulfilled two roles: on the one hand, as child members of the family and, on the other, as domestic service workers. The stories presented here show this duality, which marked the relationships they had both with their blood relatives and with the employing family. My main argument is that the stories of Tránsito and Ofelia show the complexity of the relationships of the girls in domestic service with their blood relatives and with their employers. This complexity is due to the vulnerability imposed by these relationships in which they can find themselves simultaneously included and excluded; inside and outside. The elaboration of this work, started from the work with family history, mainly, in collaboration with my grandmother Ofelia, which implied the use of a great variety of methodologies (each one faced me with its own challenges), among which are: the use of stories, the interview, genealogical charts, documents such as baptism certificates, photographs, music and a visit to Tránsito's birthplace. I highlight two contributions of my work, on the one hand, a contribution to the studies on internal child domestic work in the temporalities of the mid 1920's and 1950's in Colombia. On the other hand, a series of contributions to methodological debates, not only because of the varied use of tools, but also because of the space for reflexivity and debates around intimacy, affections and distance in the field.
