| dc.description.abstract | Remember and Connect The science of remembering, the power of connecting, and the emotion of learning Active Consolidation Model with Socio-Emotional Scaffolding (MCAS, by its Spanish acronym) Remember and Connect emerged as a pedagogical innovation proposal aimed at addressing the limited consolidation of learning in long-term memory among tenth-grade students, a challenge associated with difficulties in retrieving, connecting, and using previously addressed knowledge. The project was developed through the Design Thinking methodology, following the stages of empathy, definition, ideation, prototyping, experimentation, and iteration. As a result of this process, the Active Consolidation Model with Socio-Emotional Scaffolding (MCAS, by its Spanish acronym) was structured and materialized through the Remember and Connect strategy, a pedagogical routine organized into the stages Remember, Connect, and Reflect, integrating active retrieval, connection of prior knowledge, metacognitive reflection, and a socio-emotional component within a formative learning environment. The experimentation processes carried out with low-fidelity prototypes revealed a favorable perception of the proposal among students and teachers. Students recognized the usefulness of retrieval questions in identifying what they remembered and what they needed to reinforce, while teachers valued the clarity of the sequence, its brief structure, and its adaptability. Likewise, during the second iteration, students showed greater confidence in participating when the formative and non-graded nature of the activity was explicitly explained, while the incorporation of contextualized examples, a simplified guide, and adaptation options helped teachers visualize its application in different classroom dynamics. The main contribution of Remember and Connect lies in articulating cognitive, pedagogical, and socio-emotional components within a practical, flexible, and adaptable routine aimed at supporting the retrieval, connection, and reflection of learning without generating a significant burden on regular classroom dynamics. As a future agenda, the project proposes moving toward higher-fidelity prototypes, expanding validation to other student groups and subject areas, and subsequently evaluating its effects on learning consolidation in the medium and long term. | |
