The Ciénaga Grande de Santa Marta, one of the most important wetlands in the Colombian Caribbean, is currently facing significant ecological degradation that has affected both its biophysical environment and the coastal communities that depend on it. In this context, community-based ecological restoration emerges as a strategy for both environmental recovery and social transformation. This study analyzes the transformations in pro-environmental behaviors among members of the Asociación Mujeres Resilientes de Tasajera “Cultivando Vida,” who have been engaged in mangrove restoration activities since 2021. A qualitative, interpretative case study approach was employed, complemented by participatory qualitative tools commonly used in the systematization of experiences. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews and a participatory workshop, and analyzed using NVivo 15 software through a combination of inductive and deductive coding, guided by the Value–Belief–Norm (VBN) theory. The findings reveal a process of transition consistent with the Value–Belief–Norm framework, characterized by the emergence of affective bonds with the mangrove ecosystem, a strengthened sense of collective responsibility, and increased ecological awareness. These transformations are reflected in the development of pro-environmental orientations and the adoption of mangrove conservation practices. The study highlights the relevance of longitudinal approaches to further examine the stability and consolidation of these transformations over time.
